In an alternate universe, Cloud Strife is broke as shit. Down on his luck, and nobody to fall back on, the merc looks for work, but times are tough. Just when things look their worst, a mysterious nobleman offers him a job he can't refuse... All he has to do as accompany the man on his journey to his home country across the sea. The contract Cloud signed had some fine print, but he was too focused on the $$$ to notice... So begins our story...
