Melanie chooses Abbie
The scent of champagne wafted through the air as the bottle moved from Taylor to Rick, across to Emily, who finally emptied it with the last swallow. She dropped the empty bottle into the waste bin, and turned her focus back to Melanie.
"I suppose it's my turn now," Melanie said with an air of authority. She mulled over the thought and scanned the group, looking to make the right selection. "And I choose our newest friend, Abbie."
All eyes spun around to the corner of the limo where Abbie sat, nestled into Jake. She was all smiles, excited to be included in the party.
"Ooh, what a surprise!" Abbie said gleefully.
"No pressure or anything," said Melanie. "But -- truth or dare?"
Abbie turned to look at Jake, who simply shrugged to let her know that the ball was in her court. With confident playfulness, Abbie replied, "Well, the only proper choice here is dare, isn't it?" Her eyes sparkled as she locked gazes with Melanie, ready for whatever challenge lay ahead.
Melanie’s eyes narrowed as she tried to read Abbie. "You’re a clever one, aren’t you? When we met earlier at the club, I thought you were absolutely fascinating. I still do. And you’re also a mystery."
"Am I?" Abbie said coyly. "How so?"
"You’re here with your boyfriend. You two are clearly super into each other. And yet, at the same time, I get the sense that you could just as easily come over here and make out with me, and be totally into that." Melanie paused, waiting for a response that didn’t come. "I’m just going to be blunt and ask, are you in, like, some kind of open relationship?"
"Hey, she said dare, not truth," Danny chided, eager to see some action.
"He’s right," Karl said.
Melanie touched Karl’s leg, her hand accidentally getting very close to his crotch (which she neither acknowledged nor fully ignored). "Easy, it’s just a preliminary question."
"I don’t mind," Abbie said. "And to answer it, I suppose -- yes. 'Open’ would be a good word for it."
Melanie nodded. "Interesting. That kind of makes coming up with a dare a bit of a different thing, doesn’t it?"
"Maybe it does," Abbie agreed with a knowing smile.
After a moment of contemplation, Melanie leaned back in her seat and announced her decision. "Alright then, my dear Abbie. Since you're so open-minded and adventurous, I have the perfect dare for you."
Abbie leaned forward eagerly, ready for whatever challenge lay ahead.
"I dare you to go to each of us in turn, up and down these rows, and for each person that is willing to take part, make out with them."
