Meeting with the family

You head out and meet up with your family at a local diner that you tend to frequent. Luckily for you they serve some local beers despite being a family establishment, so you can indulge in your ability to legally drink.

As you pull up outside you see your parents station wagon parked nearby. Your family has never been beyond lower middle class, but they provided for you well enough throughout your childhood. Your family actually got together to celebrate with you tonight. Your older sister Caitlin just graduated college, and your younger sister Dana should be almost done with her senior year at high school.

As you walk in through the door you are surprised by a sudden shout of "John!" and a sudden tackle into your flank. You look down and see your sister clinging to your side. Your younger sister is a petite, blonde, young woman who swam competitively most of her childhood, giving her a lithe body. She also never had very good situational awareness, and fact that the sundress she is wearing had come off her shoulder in her attack and was nearly exposing her breast was a bit much. "Oh, hey Dana, you appear to be happy to see me." You reach down to adjust her dress and are struck by a disgusting dirty thought, but you pull it back onto her shoulder and gently disengage her from your side. You are reminded of the old adage "Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely." and for a moment you considered doing some corrupting of your sister.

Shaking your head quickly you turn to the rest of your family sitting in a booth nearby you smile upon seeing them again for the first time in a while. Your parents are approaching middle aged but your older sister Caitlin is still maturing into her full beauty. "Dana! Let him sit down and say hello to the rest of us first." You smile at her and walk over with Dana hanging off your arm.

You sit down and exchange pleasantries with your family for a while, and when the food arrives Dana dives into her waffles with a frantic intensity she has had since a child. You watch her go for a moment before shaking your head and turning to your own burger, complete with a nice amber. As you eat your mother asks you "So, what have you been up to lately?" Your father shoots her a 'subtle' glare. You can tell they have been arguing about this subject, and admittedly you really hadn't done much with your life until today.

"Oh, didn't you hear?" you respond? She shakes her head to your question. This tells you a good bit more about the range of your power, it really does seem to only apply to those that are directly affected by whatever you now own. "I just acquired the apartment complex I live in." Your family gives you stunned looks for a moment, but don't seem to question it. "Congratulations!" Caitlin says "Perhaps you can give us a tour sometime."

"Sure, uh sometime." Dana has already finished her food and latches onto your arm again. "Yay, maybe we can have a sleepover!" You smile down at Dana and her endless happiness. "Sure, I think we have a few empty rooms you guys could stay in."

You spend the rest of the evening drinking a few more beers and listening to Dana telling the tale of her latest swimming victory, and Caitlin complaining about her professors. Eventually it is late and you need to head home and sleep after the exhausting day you have had. As you get up the **** hits you and you feel slightly woozy, not enough to make walking dangerous, but definitely not a good idea to drive.

Your mother gets a concerned look on her face. "Do you need us to call you a cab?" You wave your arm at her as you reply "Don't worry, I wont drive home. I got this." you say over your shoulder as you walk out the door.
