Chapter 44 by Shandy Shandy

What next?

Meeting with Grandfather.

Promptly at 2:00pm Meghan taps on your door frame.

"Mr. Gavin is here for your meeting, Mr. Chandler," she says, her face a mask of professionalism. Her elegantly dressed grandfather steps through the door, giving an appraising glance to your secretary.

"John, great to see you. I hear that pretty wife of yours was here earlier. That brings back some memories." He smiles thoughtfully. "How is the dear girl, still taking care of you?"

"Very well, sir. She takes care of me very well."

"Jim, for heaven's sake. We've known each other long enough. Shared enough together." He gives you a knowing look.

"That we have, Jim," you smile, gesturing him to a comfortable chair. Meghan appears in your doorway, looking every inch the diligent secretary.

"Gentlemen, can I get you coffee? Or something else? Mr. Gavin?" she says, cocking her head inquiringly.

"Coffee, thank you," he says, looking a touch surprised. You nod at Meghan and she nods back in understanding, turning and leaving the room. Her grandfather looks after her.

"Well. I do detect signs of progress. Whatever you're doing it's obviously working," he says, looking thoughtfully at you. "Did you spank her?"

"A time or two."

"Excellent. Just what the little fool needs. Best thing for her. Have you taken her yet?"

"Not yet."

"Hmmph. Well, that's always a good way to reinforce your lesson," he says smiling, as Meghan returns with coffee. "Thank you my dear." He takes a sip and nods appreciation. Meghan smiles and looks at the two of you.

"Will there be anything else gentlemen?" she asks, and seeing nods of negation, she smiles and sways from the room. Both of you watch her until she shuts the door.

"Ahh, my, if I was only younger. And not her grandfather of course. I'm impressed John. Anyway, let's to business. How are things with the Cornelius account?"

Later that afternoon.
