Chapter 29 by daciasdesire daciasdesire

Amy’s Art class.

Meeting the new Art Teacher

Spencer was a little skittish on the rest of the way to Amy’s classroom but thankfully it was just around the corner.

Mary Winters was a trifle disappointed at Spencer’s reaction to her playing in the janitor’s cupboard. She expected him to be a little more… receptive and not so damn frighty. The principle had been keeping an eye on Spencer, as had much of the faculty. Mary had been elated when the school’s Spanish Teacher Miss Cindy Lynn had come to her with rumours of Spencer and Darcie Collins having a secret affair. The Spanish Teacher had been tasked with keeping a special watch over Spencer and had failed miserably with her intel. Mary thought the altogether too young and too attractive teacher could do with some time being frozen out of the inner circle after this. Her invites to the next couple of parties getting lost in the mail perhaps.

Principle Winters knocked lightly on the glass window in the door to Ashley Black’s classroom. Letting her know that she and Spencer were there to collect Amy. The Art teacher finished what she was saying to the class before telling the rest of the children to quietly go about their own work as she gave Amy the signal to pack up and come and join her outside the classroom.

As Ashley held the door open for Amy, Spencer’s only daughter dashed out and wrapped her arms around him in a giant hug. “Daddy!” she called him almost crying.

Spencer's heart melted at that moment then. Amy hadn't called him that in years. It was always just plain Dad.

“Hey, kiddo! Hey, now don’t be like that. I’m fine. Just a little accident,” Spencer told her as he stroked the back of her hair gently.

Mary and Ashley took a discrete step away, giving the father and his daughter their privacy. Mary making sure to give Ashely a telling look that the man was someone for her to take note of.

When Amy head dried her tears and was ready to go, Spencer brought her over to her teacher and the principle to thank them for letting her go early. If he hadn’t been so distracted by Amy’s worry, he might have noticed just how voluptuous the younger teacher truly was. Heavy chested with dark hair she was another of the school’s very attractive staff. Spencer somehow missing her impressive cleavage in her low-cut black top.

“Thank you for letting Amy go. I just want to get her home after what happened yesterday,” Spencer said to Ms Black.

“Of course. I could text you Amy’s homework later if you’d like,” the new Art Teacher offered thinking it would impress her Principle if she was to get Spencer phone number off him just like that.

Mary shot her a ****-glare to let her know she’d miss judged her attempt to flirt with Spencer just then. “I think we can excuse Amy from any homework this weekend, don’t you?”

“Yes, Principle Winters, of course,” Ashley said demurely falling back in line quickly.

“Alright let’s get you home then Amy,” Spencer said aware of the time and his eagerness to get away from Carter Junior before the afterschool rush.

Amy and Spencer retraced his steps back out past the reception and out of the school building. Principle Winters remaining behind with Ashley to talk about Spencer once they were gone.

“Want to grab an ice cream before we head home?” Spencer asked Amy, offering her the treat to make up for any stress he had put her under over the past 24 hours. His words about getting Amy home just a front to get away from Mary and her questing hands.

“Sure, but what about your car? How will we get home?” Amy asked.

“It’s going to be in the shop for a while but we’re going to be getting a hire car for the time being on Monday. We’ll get home the same way I got here. By taxi.”

Amy accepted that. “Is Mrs Collins alright? Kim was really worried too.”

“She’s fine honey. She just got a little cut on her head. That’s all.”

Spencer was glad he was able to alleviate Amy’s concerns about his accident. He didn’t want her dwelling on it and her Mother like he had the day before. Spencer took them to a diner that served traditional ice cream sundaes which was just a short walk into the centre of town. No more than half a mile. He let Amy order the biggest one on the menu taking plenty of time to eat it before they caught a ride back to their farm house.

It was just before 5 when they were dropped off in the taxi. Amy going to the lounge room to watch some television after school while Spencer checked some emails on his tablet in the kitchen. So it was that Spencer wasn’t expecting a knock at his side door around half an hour later.

At the glass door was Danielle the customer services manager from Spencer’s bank holding a bottle of red wine. Spencer had completely forgotten after having his car crash yesterday that he had invited Danielle as well as the Monaghans' over for dinner tonight. He didn’t have a single thing in the house prepared for them.

The bewildered look on Spencer’s face when he came to the door to let Danielle in alerting her to the fact something was wrong.

“My God Danielle! I’m so sorry. I completely forgot. You wouldn’t believe it, I had a car accident in Cherryville yesterday and only just got back to town this afternoon,” Spencer said apologising profusely.

“Spencer! Are you alright?” Danielle said shocked, “did you want to do this another time perhaps?”

Do they reschedule?
