Meeting other people in the dorm....

Helping Jackson unpacked took another hour or so. But at least you seemed to get to know each other well. You weren't entirely sure if Jackson liked you, and he seemed a bit full of himself, so who knows how much he liked anyone but himself, but you at least felt like you might be able to get along fine. Jackson wanted to be pleased, and you were pretty easy going, so tolerating that while difficult wasn't much of a struggle.

The local R.A. was a year or two older than you both, and he was rather friendly and helpful and let you know that there was a downstairs gathering of freshmen get-to-know each other event. Cookies and kool aid would be given and maybe jello. Jackson assumed there would be something in the kool aid, and had rushed off to grab a cup or two and mingle. Leaving you to your own devices.

You looked around the growing and gathering cluster of fresh faces. Some had that deer in the headlights look, while others seemed excited to be there. You looked around the room and there was quite a bit of diversity, having grown up in a small town, where everyone was white as can be you enjoyed the diversity of the campus already.

You felt a bit of discomfort being in a crowd. That always gnawed at you, even at highschool events. Gatherings weren't much of your thing, but you promised yourself to push yourself this year beyond the comforts of high school was. Try making new friends, try putting yourself out there with girls, which was why you went along with Jackson's bet.

You continued looking around the room. You saw a dark-raven haired girl who wore a dark tank top that hugged her form nicely along with dark leggings. She had an interesting crystal around her neck and charming green eyes. Her face didn't seem pleased to be there. Next to her was a blonde who from the sounds of it was giggling like a schoolgirl, chumming it up with a couple of boys and girls. She kept tugging the dark-brunette as if to pull her into the conversation. Her hair was tied back into a bun and she wore tight short jean shorts. They seemed like an odd couple, possibly room mates? Might be an interesting pair to get to know?

Searching more, you saw a red-haired beauty. She reminded you of the actress that was on Game of Bones several years ago. Several other guys must have thought the same thing as a group of buff and nerdy guys were already forcing there way into conversations. Two had already offered her kool-aid and where trying to out play the other. You noticed one was mildly attractive male with blue eyes and dark brown hair. He was a head taller than you, and had flannel on, but seemed pretty relaxed. His rival was about your height but pretty muscular, his ebony skin was rich and vibrant. He was cracking jokes left and right. The guys piled around seemed nice enough, so approaching the group would be great to start making friends, even if the red-head was clearly out of your league. Maybe you could pull her away from the mob? Or make potential friends?

You continued to look around the group. You saw a sheepish girl reading a book in the corner. Her glasses framed her face nicely, around her hazel eyes. Her tan skin glowed slightly with beads of sweat. She was clearly nervous in groups. Attempting to read casually, but every so often looking up. Her dark hair had cute curls. Next to her sat an even nerdier boy with long hair. He giggled every so often as he looked at his cellphone. They seemed to know each other prior from the look of it. Maybe an easier group to approach? Or harder?

You looked over at Jackson who was still at the kool-aid, flirting with one of the female RAs and a couple other attractive girls. Most looked like they may have been cheerleaders or out of the preppy crowd if they were in high school. Jackson was the type to aim high, and the most likely fit in with that crowd you realized. It was hard to tell, their smiles were hard to read. Were they painted on in toleration? Or are they falling for his charms? Something told you, you might be behind on this bet by the end of the day already.
