Meeting of the Susans
“WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE… I’M GOING TO BURN EACH AND EVERY LAST FUCKING ONE OF YOU DOWN TO THE BONE!” Screamed Electro, pounding her fists against her shared cell threateningly at the Fantastic Four and the guards keeping eye on her.
“Wow, has anyone ever told you, you have a serious temper problem?” Asked Johnny, his arms crossed and leaning down to stare at his sister’s doppelganger eye to eye. Looking back to his sister Susan, the Human Torch shrugged. “I remember when YOU got mad, but never like this.”
“Guess that’s one of the differences between her and me… apart from the whole electrical powers bit.” Looking over to her husband Reed, the man, ever present with his notepad scribbled away with his observations of his wife’s multi-dimensional variants. “What do you think Reed? I’m sure you have some theories”
“If she is anything like the Electro of our world, she was likely exposed to a massive electrical charge from multiple sources at once. Ionising her cellular structure.” Leaning back up and pocketing his notepad to his belt, Mr. Fantastic’s face remained solemn and thoughtful on the matter. “But not likely through anything from my laboratories or facilities where you and I used to work.”
“Yeah, Stretch is a lot of things, but the guy’s always been careful... More or less.” Piped in Ben, eyeing Kraven as she leaned against the wall of her cell, picking at her fingernails, and matching his gaze, her eyes murderous in comparison to his. “So what made you all the way you are? Your hubby screw up too?”
“BEN!”
Shrugging back at Susan, the Thing gave a defensive wince. “Hey, I’m just trying to play things straight here Suzie. The last few bad versions of you had a chip on their shoulder about THEIR Reed. Figured it’d be the same with them.”
“Never met the guy…” Grumbled Mysterio, turning her face to look away while she leaned against the side wall with her arms crossed.
“What? You mean THIS Fucker?” Sneered Electro, nodding towards Reed. “Who’d marry HIM? Probably a limp noodle in bed with those fucking powers of his.”
Reed raised his hands defensively at the accusation. “Now that’s a bit uncalled for…”
“None of us ever had a Reed Richards in our lives.” Spoke up the Condor, sitting at the back of the cell and hugging herself to keep her arms busy. Her mechanical wings were folded up behind her, useless and heavy for the elderly woman to walk around unimpeded. The elderly looking Susan Storm eyed Reed and Susan venomously. “The only one of us who did claim to be married to a version of YOU was the Blue Goblin… And she’s a REAL piece of work.”
“Indeed, she makes this one look approachable.” Nodded Mysterio over to Electro.
“FUCK YOU!”
Leaning back at the outburst, Johnny looked to the other versions of his sister and nearly snorted in disbelief. “So you ladies never knew or married Reed, huh? So… How’d you end up like this?”
Stepping away from the glass, Electro hissed under her teeth and walked away, turning her back from the Human Torch. Kraven and Mysterio were just as silent, looking away from Johnny, save for the Condor who sat back and combed her fingers through her grey, thinning hair. Pointing towards Electro with a boney finger.
“Well if you must know…”
“Shut the FUCK up bitch!” Hissed Electro, fuming. “I used to be a model, if that’s so hard to believe.” Electro pressed her back against the wall and pounded her fist against its surface, “Then during an after-party, I get too drunk and start tightrope walking the banister of my high-rise balcony to show off to my lady friends. Leading me to fall into the pool below and get my foot snagged by a power line… Then get struck by lightning when I hit the water. You know… Because BAD LUCK is like that.”
Ben whistled and shook his head.
“And so when she came out of the water, she came out as a demi-goddess of electrical might, with ZERO impulse control.” Mysterio giggled, ignoring Electro’s hateful gaze.
“And to think you thought I was reckless sis.” Snorted Johnny, shaking his head at the story.
“Sis?” Electro asked, her mood calmer as she turned to eye the man behind the glass. “You’re her brother?!”
“Y-yeah. You.. You don’t have a ME in your universe?”
The woman remained silent, turning her attention away from the window of her cell, where the rest of her compatriots stared back at her and back at Johnny.
“No…” Condor answered, her weathered face stern. “She’s a lonely child, and so am I. I grew up adopting the Storm family fortune after dear old mom and dad dear old DIED in a car crash together.”
“For us only mom died.” Susan answered, trading looks with her brother.
“What a disappointment; half the surviving family, double the wait time for the money.” Snarked the woman, leaning back in her seat with her hands over her knee. “Did you cut their brake lines too? Or was it a tragic little… Accident?”
Taken back by the crone’s accusation, both Storm siblings glared back at the Condor as she reared back and laughed in her seat. Getting dirty looks from the Fantastic Four.
“How did you all meet?” Reed asked the most important question. “None of you appear to be able to travel the multi-verse by yourselves.”
Trading looks, the four women looked back at Reed, remaining silent save for Mysterio, who gave the man a smug grin.
“Wouldn’t YOU like to know…”
“Mr. and Mrs. Richards?”
“Yes?” Susan and Reed responded in unison to the SHIELD guard behind them. The man holding a finger to an earpiece in his helmet.
“We just got word from one of our teams, we’ve got another one inbound.” The guard explained. “The one with the metal octopus arms, she’s been arrested and being brought here now.”
