Meeting and warning

You spend the morning telling your story to Lynn, who listens with rapt attention. She seems genuinely interested in your life up to this point, and when you’re finished she smiles at you.

“Thank you for telling me all that, Josh. It’s amazing to me that you turned into such a compassionate person so quickly.”

You chuckle, “Well, tragedy changes people, and honestly, without Anna’s gentle guidance, I would still be a loner hiding in his big empty house. I can’t imagine not having the girls around now.”

Lynn slides closer to you on the couch, and you put your arm around her casually. The little goblin smiles and snuggles against you. “You know, Josh, I’m already so grateful for everything you’ve done for me...”

“Lynn, I haven’t done anything exceptional for you, just offered some basic decency. You deserve a chance to be happy, just like everyone else.”

Maya walks into the room and chuckles at the sight of the two of you cuddling on the couch. “Putting the moves on the new girl already, my Josh?”

Lynn blushes and scoots away, and you roll your eyes. Maya sticks her tongue out at you and sits between you. “I guess I’ll need to separate you two, can’t trust my Josh to not take advantage of the poor innocent goblin girl!”

Lynn giggles, still blushing, “I-it’s not like that at all, Miss Maya!”

“Oh, just Maya is fine, cutie. And honestly, you probably need to worry about me more than him anyway.” Maya leans towards Lynn and stage whispers, “I’m the one who stole Elys from him in the first place!”

Lynn’s purple eyes go wide, “Y-you did what?”

Maya giggles, and you sigh, “Maya is messing with you, Lynn. Elys is much more interested in women than men, and Anna is mostly just into me, so Maya and her sleep together a lot.”

“O-oh, that makes sense. And Maya, you are happy with both relationships?”

“Happy with getting all the sex I want, from two very attractive people? Uhh, yeah!”

Lynn giggles again, “Every time someone explains more about this family, the more incredible it sounds!”

You smile, “I’m amazed every day. And incredibly thankful.”

Anna comes in, leading Rachel and Elys. The gorgon is describing yesterday’s events as they walk. You wave as everyone makes themselves comfortable. Rachel smiles and looks to Lynn.

“I’m glad to see you’re comfortable here, Lynn. I wasn’t sure what would happen once you calmed down.”

“T-thank you Miss Rachel. Josh has been a perfect gentleman and the girls are wonderful! I’ve never felt safer than I have here so far.”

“I’m glad to hear that. To business, though. Do you know what the HPP planned to do with you?”

“Well, they talked pretty openly around me, I guess they didn’t think it would matter. They talked about sending me to their bosses, some kind of magical lordship. Supposedly I was to be ‘fed’ to a portal to overcharge it somehow. They would laugh about using monster girls as batteries.”

Rachel nods, “Well, you’re safe now, Lynn. And we won’t let it happen to anyone else if we can stop it. Whoever this higher organization is, they have serious power, and huge reach. They were able to organize the taking of Lynn across worlds, with the plan of opening a two-way portal, essentially linking the two worlds. They will move to control both, and leave us all in a very bad place. I need to bring this information to the council, and when we come to a decision, we will doubtless have a new mission for you, Josh.”

You nod, smiling, “I will continue working on my powers, then.”

Rachel stands, and makes her way towards the door. “Probably a good plan. And be alert, I think this organization has it’s eyes on you, so don’t be surprised if you have to deal with another abduction attempt.”

“We’ll be ready, and hopefully next time they don’t break my house again!”
