Meet the Captain

After you finished putting on and examining your new outfit, the Grey doctor led you out of the medical bay into a well-lit hallway. A short ways later you entered a round chamber that must be some sort of elevator. After the door closed, the doctor motioned his fingers over a panel, and the room began to vibrate slightly. A few seconds later the door opened and you exited into a wider corridor. As you followed the doctor, you passed two other Greys who didn't seem surprised to see either of you. Eventually, he reached a door and said, "This is the captain's quarters. After you've spoken to him, someone else will come to give you a tour of the ship. I will be in the medical bay if you need me." Then he turned and walked back toward the elevator.

You felt awkward standing there outside the room, and had no idea who the captain would be. Was it another Grey? Or could it be an alien of some other race? What was the expected etiquette, and how were you supposed to address them? As you began to wonder all of that, the door suddenly opened, and a voice inside said, "You may enter."

Stepping into the room, it seemed rather empty compared to the medical bay. In the middle was a small round table with some lighted panels, and along one wall was a set of larger panels. Standing near the middle table was another Grey, but this one looked somewhat different from the doctor. His face and skin showed a few more wrinkles, and his skin had some dark blotches. One of his eyes opened more than the other making it look like he was squinting slightly.

"Welcome aboard the Starpoint. Since my name is rather long and complex, you can simply call me Captain."

"I'm pleased to meet you, Captain," you began. "I'm Skylar Furton, but you can call me Sky."

"I've been waiting to speak with you until you were fully healed, and the doctor has informed me that you've recovered from your injuries. If you're ready, Sky, I want to discuss the incident involving your ship."

"I've been eager to learn about that as well. Can you tell me what happened? And are there any other survivors?"

"Your ship collided with a subspace junction which was temporarily down for maintenance. The marker buoys should have broadcast the universal danger signal, but we can't determine if they were working correctly. The collision with your ship destroyed the buoys along with a large section of the junction terminal. As for your ship, much of it was destroyed almost instantly from the collision. Fortunately for you, one of the automated systems in the terminal was undamaged, and when it detected your life signs, it erected a protective bubble around you which prevented you from dying. Shortly afterward, you were taken on board this ship. We recovered a few other items, but we found no other survivors."
