Upstairs, Tyler is sitting at his desk, his noise-canceling headphones on. He is running his first Personal Test Program. The monitor is a blur of high-speed violet flickers—frames of his own confidence, images of him standing tall, and commands of COMMAND THE ROOM and THEY WANT TO OBEY.

He watches the screen for exactly three minutes. When the cycle ends, a "Blank Frame" reset triggers. He blinks, shaking his head as if clearing away a cobweb.

“Did I finish the script?” he wonders, looking at his notes. He doesn't remember watching the video. He doesn't remember the images. But as he stands up to head to his date with Maya, he catches his reflection in the window.

His posture is perfect. His jaw is set. He looks like a man who owns every square inch of the world he walks on. He picks up his keys, tucking them into his jacket pocket.

He walks toward the stairs, his footsteps heavy and confident. As he passes the living room, he hears the muffled sounds of rhythmic breathing and the soft rustle of silk. A slow, knowing smirk spreads across his face. He doesn't stop to look. He doesn't need to. He knows exactly what the "Technical Review" has turned into.

“Have fun, Mom,” he whispers to the hallway, his voice sounding deeper, more resonant.
