Chapter 12 by Sloth013
Do you make it home in time for breakfast?
Maybe lunch
You ran as fast as your legs could carry you. Sounds of yells and calls of "Go that way!" Could be heard in the distance, giving you that boost of terror that you needed. After a few hours of running you stop, just for a moment.
"I'm so glad i stole a few potions." You say before taking it like a shot. You feel the dull throbbing pain in your shoulder ease before leaving you entirely. Pocketing the vial for later you quickly check the sky, your blind naviagation feat really coming in handy, and you deduce that your about 6 hours away from your lair if you run at full speed. Not wanting to risk it, you catch your breath before you start sprinting once more.
The sun is just peaking it's head over the horizon as you arrive at the creak that leads to your home. With a smile, you unequip your shoes before you start jogging through the water, hiding your scent from any rangers. The sun is directly above you when you arrive at the lake.
As you walk towards your home, the nymph pops her head above the water. "Well, did you do it?"
"Yep. I almost successfully infiltrated Utnop without being caught." You say.
"Almost?"
"I got caught on the way out, but i think i managed to throw off any pursuers i may have had." You say as you sit down. You pull out whats left of your rabbit meat and start eating only to stop and offer some to the nymph.
"No thanks. We nymphs don't need physical nourishment. So long as our place of living exists, we can live essentially forever." She explains.
"Huh. Interesting. I mean we elves live for extremely long periods of time as well, a few thousand years at most." You explain. You continue making small talk for a little while before your fatigue finally catches up to you. With a yawn you bid the nymph farewell and return to your lair.
Once you enter, you see the shadow giving you a salute before resuming its duties. You walk deeper into your home and decide to simply lay down on the floor, allowing yourself to fall asleep.
You awake a few hours later, feeling much more rested, and slightly sore still, to see your badger sitting next to you. "Ah there you are. Did you find any materials while i was away?"
It looks at you before turning and walking towards the exit. After about 10 feet, it stops and turns its head to look at you. Guessing it wants you to follow it, you quickly equip a spear and your new clothes before following. You walk for a little bit until you arrive at a small pile of leaves on the ground. The badger points it's head down at the pile and grunts. With a shrug you start grabbing everything, adding it to your inventory. Once the branches are clear, there are a handful of stone and copper ore chunks, a good haul for just a few days. When you return home, you decide to check your fame to see if your little stunt at the town changed anything.

"Shit." You say as you look over your fame. "Not good not good not good." You panic as you try to think of something. You quickly deliver a slap to your face, calming yourself down. "Okay. Everything will be fine Yazas. You just have 4 advenuterers and a nemesis after you. You can deal with this. Okay lets think, the best way to ensure i continue living is to increase my power. To do that i need to level up. But to do that, i need to kill heroes. I just got more equipment that should help. What about allies?" You ask yourself.
"There's me, the water nymph who is on the fence still, the shadow, the pebble golem, and a badger. Great. I'm doomed." A loud thump echoed through the tunnels as you slam you head into the wall.
"Wait wait wait wait wait. There was a possibility to evolve minions in the fame menu!"
Evolve Minion
Warning, minion must be at least level 10. Evolve a minion into a more powerful form. Fame cost dependant on minion
"Damn it!" None of your minions are level 10 to your knowledge. However, something else catches your eye.
Empower minion
Grants a boost towards a single minion's stats. Each empowerment requires more fame.
"This. This may be of use." You think aloud. Hopefully with the amount of fame you have you can empower all your minions. You motion for the shadow to come to you. It's inky form swims across the stone until it sits before you. "Gather the others." You command. Within a few minutes the group is before you.
Wild badger ???
Shadow ???
Pebble golem ???
"Hm. It seems i am currently unable to see your stats. But an empowerment won't cause any problems." You say before empowering each of your pitiful minions.
Fame: 288
Not great. That was a sizeable chunk of your fame. "Alright continue your business." You say before opening the fame menu once more. "A lots happened since I've last looked at this. Hopefully I've unlocked something new." You say before you start scrolling down the menu. Around a quarter of the way down, you see something strange.
????? (1/5) required.
"Weird." You state. Nothing comes to your mind as to what this is, only that your a fifth of the way there to unlocking it. You scroll back to the top and quickly find a sorting ability. You set it to avaliable and a new fame ability appears before you.
Exp share (0/10) 30 fame:
Gain a small portion of experience from any ally's kills or harvesting actions within a hundred feet of you, or if you eare within your lair.
"Why the hell was this blocked off before!?" You ask before buying two levels.
Fame: 208
As nothing else is avaliable to you, you close the window and go to open your inventory, only for you to see the pebble golem looking up at you.
"Yes?" You ask. The golem just looks at you, unable to speak. A thought suddenly dawns on you about what it could want. "Are the tunnels done?" You ask with a hint of excitement. It gives you a small nod. "Good! Let us see how it turned out."
(Quick directions so you know the correct path. Left, right, straight, right. Now back to our regularly scheduled program.)
You go right at first, wanting to see the drop and subsiquent path to the drop from the other side. You had the golem widen the drop to about ten feet wide, while keeping the 30 foot drop. But at the bottom, you created a path that snakes around and returns to the other path, with a few dead ends branching off here and there. You want any heros to get exhausted, and maybe hurt in this endeavor, not make it easy to get to you.
Returning to the main tunnel you go left this time and a few hundred feet in, you see the massive cave system you envisioned. No literally. You decided to give the heroes a boon and allow them a chance to see where they needed to go. With a large crevasse between you and the doorway to the actual lair, only the extremely skilled, or extremely idiotic would be able to simply bypass the gap. Either through magic, or sheer skill, they could bridge the gap, and if they had either of those to begin with, they probably would get to the correct path anyways.
The crevasse itself was 150 feet long between the correct path and the main tunnel. It was 100 feet wide, and 100 feet down, with a few nasty stalagemites placed at the bottom for any sorry souls who should fall to their ****. The window followed the trail for about 50 feet before it snaked off until it forked once more. The left path took you to a larger cavern, with three paths of its own that didn't lead anywhere except where you started. The right path continued onward until you reach three paths. The left took you to a single large circular cavern where you plan to place one of your stronger minions in the future. The right path lead you down a path that goes down to the crevasse floor. If a hero survives the fall they can hike their way back, and you can send minions down to collect the loot from any that don't make it up.
The central path continues onward until it hits one more fork, the left going to another 40 foot drop, with a path that leads all the way back to the otherside of the first drop. This works two fold. The heroes who make it across the first drop's gap end up completely confused as to where they are, and any who make it that far to begin with end up back at the beginning. Going right, the tunnel snakes around a bit until the path opens up in the large crevasse once more before finally arriving at the final cavern. Its about 60 feet tall, 50 feet long, and 30 feet wide in an oval shape. This is where you will build a fortress... once you have the ability too.
"This looks great. You did a magnificent job pebble golem. For now i want you to patrol the tunnels in case any hero makes their way in." You smile. The golem gives you a look that you can only describe as one of happiness before it wanders off.
"Now lets see what i can do about this crafting situation." You say.
Is there anything you can do now?
