Max makes a break for it.

Zack looked over in Max"s direction.

"Max get out!"

"What?"

"Get the hell out of here Max, GO NOW!"

Max looked at Zack not sure what to do. She couldn't just leave a man behind; Nathan, Nikoli, whoever got him first, they'd kill him.

"MAX!" Zack yelled again getting her attention. She moved her face out of the way as a bullet his the side of the table, splinters shattering from the impact.

When she looked at Zack again he was putting a new clip into his gun.

"What the fuck are you waiting for Max, get out!"

Max looked over Zack's shoulder at the window.

She took a breath trying to control her body and emotions, centering herself.

Max dashed from her cover, bullets training after her as she burst at full speed. She gripped Zack under his arm then leapt off her feet, diving with him through the air.

CRASSSSHHHH!

The window shattered as Max hurled herself through it holding tightly onto Zack. Training kicked in as instinct, and they both shifted their momentum midair so as to hit the ground without harming themselves.

Max quickly pulled Zack behind a dumpster out of line of sight, she knew the goons would be poking their guns out the 2nd story window any minute. Right on queue they appeared.

"Did you see that shit, how the hell did that chick move so fast?"

"Where the fuck they go?"

"Get on the radio, call our boys downstairs, it was Maxine, kill her."

Max watched as they disappeared from sight.

She turned to Zack, "You okay?"

"Fine. They'll be here any minute, we gotta move."

"How's your leg?"

"The bullet went through the bone. If I wasn"t transgenic, I'd have a permanent limp."

Max looked down the alley they were in, she needed a plan.

"Hallo?"

"Max".. Where the hell have you been Logan's been?"

"What!?"Okay keep cool, I'll be right there."

Alec put down the phone and rushed out of his apartment.
