Chapter 6 by Nopse Nopse

Dinner or not?

Mary Jane goes to dinner

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon at the Parker's apartment in 5B. Mary Jane was lounging on their second-hand couch trying to complete the New York Times crossword puzzle. Peter was reading some scientific magazine, letting his wife's legs lay acoss his lap.

"What's a four letter word for rooster?" Mary Jane mused to herself.

Pete scratching his head, just shrugged his shoulders, "Did you say something MJ?"

MJ just smiled, "No... nothing," thinking about what a beautiful, relaxing day it was so far.

The silence of the pair was ultimately broken up by the ringer of someone's phone.

"Is that yours or mine?" Peter asked as he was roused from the couch.

"Mine," she answered him, "You have that stupid ring tone on yours."

Peter chuckled. He remembered putting on "The Amazing Spider-Man" song on for his.

"Oh yeah...hehe."

"Mature Pete... real mature," she said with a smile as she picked up her cell phone.

"Hey... it's a good tune... catchy."

MJ smirked at him as she looked at the 'unknown number.'

"Hello Parker's immature house of insanity, how can we help you today," she asked jokingly.

A familiar, and unwanted voice answered back.

"Welllllll... sounds like I caught you on the right day today. Someone's in a good mood."

MJ knew who it was immediately... Nick Katzenberg.

"Not anymore," she replied.

Peter looked at he quizzically and mouthed, "who is it?"

MJ pulled the phone down and moved to the bedroom, "Just my agent hun.... might be some work for me."

Peter gave her a thumbs up, "Good luck hun.. I hope they work you good."

MJ just nodded, her face a bit puzzled, "Uh.. y-yeah."

Katzenberg replied as soon as the door closed, "You hear that baby? Even your poor hubby wants you to get worked by me."

"Shut up Katzenberg," she immediately responded, "What do you want?"

"Time for our date beautiful," he said.

MJ knew this was coming, but prayed it wouldn't. "Now?!... but no. I-I-I'm not ready... today.. isn't good."

MJ tried to defuse, deflect, and do anything to not go out with Katzenberg.

"It's today... or tomorrow will be a HUGE news day."

Mary Jane just *sighed* "Fine.... when and where?"

Katzenberg chuckled on his end of the line, "Good girl... 8:00... Vitucci's Bistro. Know it?"

She was familiar with name. Very high end. Nothing she or Pete could afford.

She was silent for a minute before quietly answering, "yes."

"Oh and Red... dress nice... you know what I mean," Katzenberg concluded as MJ unceremoniously hung up on him.

She was stuck. MJ knew she had to lie to Peter, but she didn't have a choice. So, putting on her happiest face Mary Jane peered out of the bedroom and with a **** smile on her face, "Uhmm... good news hun! I have a meeting tonight with some fashion industry people... very promising."

Pete peered over his literature, "Oh yeah? That's great... What time are we going?"

Mary Jane went back into the bedroom, looking at dresses she had in her closet.

"Oh.. ummmm.... it's just me and the agent tonight hun.... Hope you don't mind... You'd probably be bored out of your gourd listening to us talk about fashion anyway."

She moved dress after dress on her closet rack looking for a "good" dress for Katzenberg. She didn't want to dress up for him, but while she was made to she was going to make sure she looked good.

"Ehhh.. probably for the best anyway... I think Spidey might be swinging out tonight," Pete followed up.

MJ deciding on a sleek, red dress, poked her head out of the bedroom for a second, "Sounds great babe... catch a bad guy," returning the dress to her body to size up how she looked in the full mirror.

After a shower and about an hour of getting ready, MJ stepped out of the bedroom ready to go.

"Holy shit!" Exclaimed Peter as he saw his wife in full attire. "You look amazing!"

Mary Jane did look spectacular... although a bit confused as to why. It wasn't for Katzenberg. She just so rarely got to look as beautiful as she could.

"Awww... thank you sweetie. I shouldn't be too late," she said as she grabbed her clutch purse. She kissed her husband on the lips, feeling his warm embrace, before exiting the apartment.

**************************************

30 minutes later Mary Jane walked into the very fancy restaurant. She wasnt sure if this was the right place as so many of the patrons were obviously in another tax bracket or two... or three.

She approached the Maiter'd and asked, "Ummm... Katzenberg party."

He just nodded his head and walked her to the very secluded VIP section, "Right this way Ms. Watson."

"It's Watson-Parker," she corrected him.

"Mmm... yes," was his simple response.

At the table was a very well dressed Katzenberg. The only recognizable difference would be his greasy rat-like look and the abundance of gold jewelry he had on finger and around his neck.

"Ahhhhh.... my beautiful date," he said as he got up. He took her hand and spun her around, "Ohhh yeah... nice... very nice."

Mary Jane was disgusted, but put up with it, sitting down in the booth as soon as she could.

"You're a disgusting pig Katzenberg, " she said as she tried to keep her distance.

Katzenberg moved right next to her, his eyes attached to the clevage on display.

"Ah ah ah... when we're out Ms. Watson... you and me are gonna be close," he said as he sidled up next to her again.

Mary Jane had a frustrated look on her face as she turned to Katzenberg, "Fine," she said through gritted teeth, "...and it's Watson-Parker."

Katzenberg chuckled, "...and soon even closer," as he held her gand in the table.

MJ pulled her hand away forcefully, "I won't cheat on Peter... ever."

Katzenberg grinned. He knew he would win her over... one way or another, but continued to play the long game.

"For now baby... for now," he replied.

"Forever," she immediately shot back.

"The only way this works... for everyone you know.. is for us to have a... 'special' relationship," Katzenberg started. As he reached out for MJ's hand on the table. "So.. what do you say? Are we going to have a 'special' relationship?"

Katzenberg's Ultimatum
