Chapter 171

Party time…
Mark has a run in with Matt
Just like he remembered last year, the courtyards was packed with students, all in front of a big stage that a live band were playing at.
The drinks were flowing, everyone was stoked to be finished with their exams for the year.
Leaving the massive crowd to get another drink, Mark was surprised to see someone with two beers in their hand, offering one of them.
“You need a drink?” Matt asked, standing right in front of him.
Mark looked at him with a bit of suspicion. His ex-roommate was someone he considered an enemy on campus after what happened between the two last year. He hesitated at first before taking it, wondering if he had done something to the beer.
Grabbing it, Mark politely smiled, “Thanks, you bought me this?”
“Actually… it was going to be for Macca but he’s off flirting with some senior chick so yeah… you reek the rewards,” he told him before raising his beer in front of him.
Mark followed through, doing the same and letting their drinks connect before both of them took a decent sized sip.
“Soo uhh… I did want to speak to you though,” Matt told him, “I’m sure you heard that I broke up with Jade. Been speaking with Cassidy a bit and apologised for the way I’ve been acting this yeah. Guess I should probably be saying so-”
“Wait a minute, you shouldn’t be apologising to me for anything,” Mark jumped in, “Everything that happened with Cas was my fault, not yours, not hers. You don’t need to apologise to me.”
Matt was surprised to hear how quickly Mark defended him, “Well, that’s fair I guess but I can’t say I’m not to blame for anything. I’ve been a dick all year. That’s hard to argue, right?”
“Sure, I’ll give you that,” Mark replied, laughing a bit, it was the two’s most civil conversation since they were roommates in Mark’s Freshman Year.
“Anyways, I hope we can put aside the past. We don’t have to be best friends of anything but I’d rather get along than be at each other’s throats, that’s for sure,” Matt told him.
Mark put out his spare hand to shake Matt’s, “Of course, I appreciate you coming to me and talking it through. That would be nice.”
“Well umm, enjoy your night I guess, maybe see your around,” Matt said.
“Yeah you too!”
Just like that, he disappeared back into the crowd. If Mark wasn’t on a mission tonight, maybe he would have thought about this a little more but the reality was, he had girls on the mind so he quickly got back to the task at hand.
Trying to find who he wanted back in his room, Mark went for a walk.
He didn’t have to go far to find some of his targets. But who he saw together took his breath away. Sitting at an outside bar table, a little outside of the main courtyard area was Winter and Tiffany.
The two girls sat across each other, drinking and laughing.
Wow. Mark was shocked to see how friendly they were with each other. Sure they had buried the hatchet not long ago but this looked like a couple of long time best friends sharing old memories together.
He was just about to go over and speak to them when he saw someone to his right. All by herself was the busty blonde, Miranda. She looked very agitated, a cocktail in her hand, the blonde stared deeply across at the table where her closest friend sat with her greatest nemesis.
Mark was already regretting the idea to go over and speak to her but he thought he should do the right thing and see how Miranda was.
What do you do?
