Chapter 3 by wolfstar143 wolfstar143

Gender

Male

The man's name was Bartholomew Livingcraft of Livingcraft nobility. They were known far and wide for The ruthless banking practices. The woman was Genevieve Dunbriar. No one knew where the Dunbriars came from or even how they accumulated their wealth and power, however everyone knew their reach extended all of the way to the king as Genevieve's sister Victoria married the king after the disappearance of his former wife Queen Elena.

The marriage between Bartholomew and Genevieve was one of convenience and family wealth, as a couple they despised each other. Though Bartholomew was a noble, he always found more comfort amongst the lower classes. He enjoyed the genuine nature of the commoner. Genevieve however was a product of nobility and ruthlessness. Genevieve's father Nathaniel always wanted a son and after multiple daughters he created a son with a second tier woman named Tarin. After falling in love and finally having a son Nathaniel and Tarin ran away taking many valuables and weren't heard from again. The estate moved to Genevieve's mother, Raynelle through in her storm for Nathaniel's betrayal she told her daughters to both hate men and the lower classes. Raynelle's daughters were women of unmatched beauty, a beauty in which was greatly soured by their attitudes towards anyone they felt beneath them. This is why it became a major shock when the king took on Victoria as his bride, Victoria was so much different from Elena to where Elena was the face of grace and beauty, Victoria was a uncontrollable woman with a dark heart.

As Bartholomew walked among the crowd listening to them Genevieve strolled over to the other side holding a fake smile as she walked over to a small boarding house. A young boy was sitting outside playing with a few broken toys that he found over the years. "Hello, urchin," The contempt was obvious as Genevieve struggled to hold some semblance of generosity before giving up.

"I am above these peasants Bartholomew (she knew he hated his name and she gave a slight smile as he scoffed) you can catch whatever these disgusting creatures carry, I will be in the carriage.". Bartholomew raised an eyebrow and expressed fake concern, "well Gen (knowing she hated her nickname more than he hated his name) you don't have too. I'm going in though."

Genevieves lips curled, Bartholomew was her power, without him she has little to no respect in the city. Her tone changed "Oh Dear, you're going to allow little ole me alone with these commoners? What will they say if I get harmed?" Bartholomew chuckled and then tried to attempt a serious face, "if anyone touched her they will answer to me...". Genevieves eyebrows raised as she watched her husband turn and entered the boarding house. She turned and looked directly at you and smirks before yelling. "Dear, one of the riff raff is looking at me like he wants me...I shouldn't be left alone with such a man."
