Making Wishes

"Good morning, sleepyhead," says Jordan as my eyes flutter open. "Well, good afternoon, I should say. I thought you could use some orange juice." He thrusts a glass toward me as I sit up in bed. I take a big gulp, and then notice that he's standing between Emily and Red, both of whom are dressed in casual clothes and are looking at me very expectantly.

"We didn't even know genies slept," says Emily.

"Well, we didn't even know genies were real until a couple of hours ago," says Red.

"You told them I was a genie?" I ask Jordan. "And they believed you?"

He shrugs. "I had a picture in my wallet of me from a couple weeks ago..."

Emily continues, "And it didn't take much to convince us you had a magically-enhanced body..."

Red continues excitedly, "So your master said we could make a few wishes as thanks for the great night he had last night."

I notice that she's holding a notebook. I look to Jordan quizzically, and he says, "I wish that until I say otherwise, you will grant Emily and Red's wishes as if they were mine. But I think they had a question first..."

Emily asks, "What are the limits on your magic? Like, could we change the world?"

"What do you want to do?" I ask.

"Oh, not much," replies Red innocently. "You know, turning everyone in the world bi..."

"The females, at least," says Emily. "Plus, it would be great to get rid of STDs..."

"Whoa," I say, holding up my hands. Once again, some genie knowledge has come to my brain. "Sorry, I can't do anything seriously world-changing. My powers can really only affect individuals, and even then I can't alter someone else's wish."

The two women look disappointed, but look down at the notebook Red is holding up. "I guess that leaves off these," she says, pointing at something.

"But we've still got all these," says Emily, moving her finger back and forth across the page.

The two look back up at me with big smiles.
