Make up an excuse - and fast!

Kate knew she had to come up with an excuse and fast. After a few moments of hesitation, she was able to put on her best poker face.

"I apologize sir; I didn't mean to abandon my escort. I was just curious and wanted to take a closer look at some of the offices up here. I didn't realize it was against your protocols."

The man seemed to accept her explanation, albeit hesitantly, and then gestured for Kate to follow him out of the office.

He escorted her down the hallway and into another room, where there was nothing but a single chair in the center of the room.

"This is where you will wait for security," he said before closing the door behind him and leaving Kate alone in the room.

Kate walked to the chair and cautiously sat down. As Kate looked around, she noticed that there seemed to be something emitting a low hum in the room. It sounded like a faint buzzing noise and it was slowly starting to drown out the other sounds around her.

She knew that she had to get out of this place quickly.

She surveyed the room for any signs of escape, but there were none to be found. She looked around for any objects or tools that could help her break through the door when suddenly a thought occurred to her: Wouldn't it be better to wait for someone else to show up first?
