Chapter 15 by crackjaw crackjaw

How should she prepare for the date?

Make a thank you card for Ashton (+10 Commitment)

She had already bought a blank card with a generic ‘Thank you’ message inside, but it felt too impersonal for her to give him just like that. So Hannah sat down and thought for a moment on what she should write.

‘Thank you for helping me carry my plants home.’ She wrote, getting the basics done first. Her thoughts went back to him carefully balancing two plastic pots on his hands with a look of intense concentration, only occasionally broken as he stole glances her way. She added to the card: ‘Think of how much you’ll save on flowers for me come spring!’

Too tacky? She pursed her lips. She had to stop second-guessing herself. {if Love = True}So what if the card was a bit cringy? Relationships were a bit cringy in general, that was part of the fun! And if it made Ashton smile, then being cringe was worth it!{endif}{if Denial = True}Yes, it was a little cringe-worthy, but that’s how normal relationships went, right? Better to cringe at an awkward gift than to cringe in the morning when the ****’s effects had passed and morning light didn’t paint a nice picture of the night before…{endif}{if Manipulation = True}This kind of sappy stuff would get to Ashton, she was sure of it! And she had to play the part of a love-stricken girl if she wanted him to take her seriously!{endif} So she finished with: ‘Seriously though, you’re the first person to help, or even care, about my little balcony garden. And I hope to share it, and more, with you in the future.’ She nodded to herself, satisfied, then added a few simple doodles of flowers around the message. After a pause she added a stick figure carrying two pots of plants and smiling. Then she drew a few dazzle stars around him. Then she playfully turned the stick figure’s arms into huge, muscly arms for fun. She drew an arrow pointing at the stick figure and captioned it as ‘My awesome boyfriend!’, just to make it clear, while stifling a giggle. The card was silly and playful, but hopefully he would laugh at it and feel closer to her. She closed the card and tucked it into her purse without bothering with an envelope. She was giving it to him personally, tonight.

Time passes...
