Chapter 7 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

Next, assign a bouncer

Make Flowers the bouncer

Flowers emerged from the back, wearing a full red suit that looked about as over-sized for her as her old jacket did. If anyone thought about taking up the issue of why the smallest mercenary was assigned to this role, however, they'd have to take the matter up with the massive flamethrower she was carrying. The gun was held in her hands while the fuel was strapped onto her back-- the tank was easily half her own size. "Oh boy oh boy! I got the best job in the casino, he he! I can't wait to show you how I do it!" she cheered, pointing her flamethrower into the air and releasing a little spurt performatively towards the ceiling, where it barely managed to avoid burning the grand opening banner.

As flames reflected in the former mercenary's big, buggy eyes, Robin privately wondered if she had made a mistake. Still, you couldn't put a price on this level of enthusiasm from one of your employees. "People will think twice about making trouble with you around!" Robin agreed. "But you remember our rules, right?"

"Right! Don't burn people unless they ask for it!"

"No, er..." Robin laughed awkwardly, then leaned in to whisper. "Don't burn people period, just scare them a little."

"Got it... scare them a little by lighting their trousers on fire!"

"No, don't burn people period!"

"Uh huh. Hmmmmm... You've never really had to scare people before, huh, new boss? It's a lot scarier if you actually burn them, they scream a lot louder!"

Robin reminded herself that Flowers was likely to get up to these kinds of shenanigans no matter where she was assigned. At least if she was the bouncer, they'd serve a purpose.

What's next?
