The act of using magic is manipulating the ancient, ambient energy to get a desired effect.

Magik, the most basic element throughout existence. For as long as the universe has existed, it has been a force that spreads itself throughout space and time. It is 1 of the building blocks of the vastness of the cosmos itself. It spreads and flows until it mixes with life itself.

The usages and manipulations of this primordial element are known to all as the mystic arts or magick, and there plenty of individuals who part take in it. Because of this, there various branches of these arts, each named for what the practitioners were involved in. Some are driven by love or compassion, others by anger or hatred. There are those who are even driven by fear or greed black magik was formed. Driven by selfishness and ego the dark arts were formed. In the end, emotions or arrogant hubris were oft the driving force behind magical acts and the results were usually devastating.
