Magic

All races in Allterra can use magic to become truly powerful, it usually takes a long time to master. Thus, the long lived races naturally have the luxury of taking their time to learn it and and are generally more powerful with it. It's not that short lived races can't become powerful with it because there are some who have become extremely powerful with it magic has limitless uses though some races have more affinity to some types of magic than others
