You leave Columbia to catch up with her friend Daphne, nod to Mae's awkward apology and steer yourself and Julie out the door and toward the actual Ladies' Room labeled WOMYN.

And it's clean and bright and blessedly empty.

"Are you all right, Julie, love?" you ask.

"Was that a disaster?" you ask.

Julie laughs. "No," she says. "It was just awkward. And you should wash your face."

You laugh. "I should, at that. Shame about that, but yes."

You and Julie wash up in the WOMYN'S at the Crater.

Julie looks, then laughs. "Yes," she says. "Not much to do about it now. But if you're sitting down, or if you're dancing, no one will see it."
