Madoka Magica

Unnamed Apartment Complex, Kamihama City

Shirou Emiya leaned against the balcony railing, watching as the last light of day bled into the horizon. The sprawling cityscape of Kamihama stretched out before him, a concrete jungle bathed in twilight.

When Chaldea had arrived in this world, they had discovered a disturbing truth—human history had not been shaped by humans alone but by an alien civilization. Those among Chaldea with clairvoyance had uncovered the existence of an emotionless hive mind, a race of cat-like beings that exploited human souls as fuel.

But even more alarming was the girl named Madoka. The sheer karmic weight she carried was staggering, and the reason was clear—Homura, a girl who had traveled through countless timelines, desperately trying to prevent her friend from making a contract with those alien creatures.

The future that would unfold if they did nothing had nearly blinded Chaldea's precogs.

To think that a single girl’s selfless wish could bend the universe itself.

The salvation of countless souls at the cost of one. Shirou couldn’t accept that.

And so, Chaldea had intervened. They revealed the truth and searched for another way. The solution had come from Caster-class Servant Sheba.

If the only drawback to Madoka’s wish was her erasure from existence—ascending to a higher order of being—then all they had to do was remove that drawback.

Higher-order life forms could not interact with the world directly, much like how a reader cannot physically interact with the characters in a book. They existed beyond the confines of the universe, watching but never truly part of the story.

But there was a way around this—Daemon Summoning—the art of granting a "Unit Designation" to a higher-order existence

By naming a higher-order being, one could turn them into a character within the story, allowing them to manifest in reality.

The plan was simple: summon Madoka as his demonic familiar. By binding her to him, they could nullify the negative consequences of her wish.

It was a risk, but their only chance to save the girl who had sacrificed everything.

Fortunately, they had succeeded. Madoka had created a paradise for all magical girls who had ever fallen into despair.

But Chaldea didn’t stop there. They continued researching ways to ensure magical girls never fell into despair again. A Soul Gem continuously produced magical energy, but over time, negative emotions tainted it. If they could convert those negative emotions into magical energy—similar to how Avenger-class Servants functioned—then magical girls could sustain themselves without hunting Wraiths.

It was still a work in progress, but they were making headway.

A knock came from the apartment door.

"Come in," Shirou said, turning to face whoever had arrived.
