Maddie's story

If you read the other option from the end of the last chapter, I'm sorry. It was rushed and it was written when I was much less experienced, although this might not be much better. If I do this right it will actually have an old publish date and not the current date of 1-3-2023.

You and Maddie didn't see much of each other in school the next week but agree to do something Saturday. You got really busy working for your Uncle Jim and Maddie had just started at the Smith's grocery store. Tuesday Staci contacts you and thanks you for making her birthday special but she tells you that she got back together with her high school boy friend (he followed her from her hometown and attends Johnson College) and that she wants you to be just a pleasant memory. Friday night it is just you and Bobby going out to a party at a place called the Fields. Joe borrowed his mom's minivan and went with Tom to a party at the Smith Fish Camp. Maddie is at the party and finds you and Bobby. Maddie doesn't have a car of her own and she came here with her blonde friend Emma, after they both got done working. Emma goes for Bobby and they go to her minivan to fuck or so you assume. Bobby texts that he has a ride back with Emma. They both have to work in the morning, but are thinking of calling in.

Maddie isn't as drunk as last weekend and isn't as willing to fuck as she is close to her fertile time and is allergic to rubbers and isn't on the pill. You and her talk and you find that you have some things in common. You both recently turned 18, in fact her birthday is the same day as Ashley's (and two weeks after yours) and she would have been starting College this fall instead of her junior year in high school except for a few unfortunate things that happened to her family.

Just before the start of her first junior year, her mom, step dad, and older sister were in a bad automobile accident and she had to live with her elderly grandmother in Central City, 2 hours away, until her mom and sister came home from the hospital. Sadly her stepdad only lived a few days after the accident dying from his injuries. Being 16 she was able to work at a grocery store there and didn't do well in school and basically dropped out by December. She was back in Green River City for a little while and would have done the second half of her first junior year at Green River City High School except her family still needed her as her sister and Mom were slow to recover from their injuries.

With her experience in Central City she easily was able to work for the Smiths at their grocery store but few high schoolers saw her as she worked the day shifts when other high schoolers couldn't. Because of her age she could only work so many hours. In July her family moved back to Central City as her grandmother had gotten very sick and needed Maddie's mom to be with her. Central City is very large and Maddie, a small town girl, didn't do well in the school there so she dropped out again. Her sister met a guy there and was soon pregnant and got married.

Her grandmother was transferred to a nursing home near Green River City this past August so she is trying traditional High School one more time. Things are kind of rough for her and her mom financially but they get by and Maddie is working closer to 40 hours a week as she is now 18. She says the store is so understaffed they would willingly pay her overtime but also understand that she has school. She says all the working makes her feel old especially as in some ways she is a High School junior.

You tell her that you work a lot too and that it isn't appreciated by your friends who are either happy being slackers or unappreciative of what they get from their families. While you are both smart, your work and other habits make great grades nearly impossible, another thing that many of your peers do not get. Maddie tells you she would love to be able to drive and have a car but can't afford it. You drive further away from the party and then let her practice on some very seldom traveled roads late at night. You end the night sober and rather early as Maddie has a "baby" shift (11-4), but could use the morning to do some school work so she can be out late Saturday. You also can start work early in the morning and then free up your Saturday night.
