Macy decides to set up a playdate

The next day after feeding me my breakfast Macy leaves me on the chair and says, “I’ve been thinking. I want to call Annalise. Set up that playdate. I’m sure you’ll like that.”

I try to shake my head no, but I’m ignored. She uses her phone and she seems to end up speaking to Annalise's husband. She set up the playdate for later today. Time goes by quickly and soon enough she has me in the car heading to Annalise’s home.

We get there and she leads me inside. Annalise’s husband just kind of gives me an exacerbated look. Then walks into another room. Annalise comes into the room looking excited.

“Yay!” she says, “I’m so glad you came.” Her voice is still super high-pitched and she still has a lisp. Her clothes are also all too young looking, not as young as my clothes, but for a girl of around 4 or 5. She grabs my hand and leads me into a room. In there is her 5-year-old daughter, Lorelei, who seems to be playing with some dolls. There are also several toys scattered across the ground. Some seem like they're for babies. My wife just goes and sits on a chair and watches.

Lorelei comes up to me and says, “You’re such a big baby. I'm already out of diapers.”

“Be nice,” Annalise says, “She was changed like I was.”

“Oh, sorry,” she says and then seems to brighten up, “Wanna play with us?”

Without giving a response she grabs my hand and leads me over to the toys. Annalise joins us. They start playing with the dolls and Lorelei hands me one. I’m not sure what to do with it, so I kind of just hold it.

“Aw, look at little Deedee playing with her doll,” Macy says.

“Your wife is acting weird,” Annalise says.

I notice some alphabet blocks on the ground. I painstakingly organize them into several messages to Annalise so that she understands what’s happened.

“You met the witch?” she asks, surprised.

I nod my head yes.

“I’m sorry your wife is stuck in this baby mode, but if that’s the case why don’t you just try to enjoy it?” Annalise says, “Come and play with us.”

She has a point. I take her advice and sort of lose myself, I stop trying to think so much and just play absentmindedly. At some point, Lorelei plays with my hair and puts it into curls.

A couple hours pass by quickly. “Okay, I think that’s enough. Little Deedee here is going to need her nap time soon.”

“Aww,” Lorelie says, “Can’t she stay longer.”

“I’m sorry, but she can always come back another day,” she says.

“Yay!!” Lorelei says.

Macy takes me home after that. She is true to her word and puts me in a nap when we arrive. She continues to be in baby mode the rest of the day.
