Mackenzie accidentally cursed herself

Mackenzie was about to turn 18, and her mother told her she could open an early birthday present the night before. Mackenzie unwrapped it, and rolled her eyes at looking at a Ouija board.

"Mom, seriously? A Luigi board?" Mackenzie dismissed her mother's gift, revealing her ignorance of the occult in the process.

"Well, you're goth, aren'tcha?" her mother shot back.

"No, mom, just because I like listening to the Cure doesn't mean I'm goth!" Mackenzie explained.

"Oh well, humor me and see what happens!"

Sighing and putting the pointer on the board, Mackenzie asked the board "Will I go to the prom with my crush this year?"

Mackenzie and the pointer moved to the "Yes" position.

"See, that's fun!" Mackenzie's mother oo'ed and ahh'ed.

"Mom, it's just me moving the pointer!" Mackenzie tried to explain. "See, look! Board, what would be the most embarrassing thing to happen to someone?"

Mackenzie, trying to prove her point, just spelled out "A-L-W-A-Y-S-N-A-K-E-D" with the board.

"See?" she pointed to her mom.

"Well, okay," her mother refused to stoop to her childish spoilsporting, "hopefully you'll like the presents you get tomorrow."

"Me too, mom," Mackenzie reeked of ingratitude, "me too."

With that, Mackenzie put the board away, never playing with it again and leaving it to collect dust. She went to bed, excited to wake up in the morning as an adult.

The morning came, and Mackenzie was woken up by a knock on her bedroom door.

"Wake up, birthday girl! Or should I say birthday woman..." her mother chirped.

"Uggh, good morning, mom," Mackenzie rolled out of bed with a groan.

"Oh my goodness! I didn't know you weren't decent!" Mackenzie's mother just averted her gaze as Mackenzie looked down and realized with a start that she was naked!

"Oh god, mom!" Mackenzie shrieked at her mother ran off. While it wasn't completely unheard of for Mackenzie to sleep in her birthday suit during hot summer nights, she distinctly remembered having gone to bed with pajamas on. No matter, she quickly got dressed and enjoyed her birthday party, and all the presents that came with it, and experienced no further incident until the pool party.
