MR Day 8 - Check on Rebecca

You better check on your players before you worry about the woman who isn't even your coach anymore.

You find Rebecca outside as the other girls happily disperse. She's looking worriedly at her phone.

"What's wrong?" you ask.

"I think they left me behind again," Rebecca says. She's calm, but clearly disappointed.

"Your friends?"

She nods.

"Rebecca, we can find something to do..." but before you can give her a pep talk, you can see she obviously does not want to have fun or take her eyes off things. She wants to be with her friends. She's too polite to say it, but you know.

"Where do you think they are?" you ask her.

"In the woods," she says.

"What are they doing there?"

Rebecca doesn't answer right away. You have seen her being secretive before... she probably won't tell you.

"They are looking for anything unusual," she says.

You're surprised.

"Unusual like what?" you ask, confused.

"I guess we'll know it if we see it," she says.

Whatever...

"You want to walk in the woods with me?" you ask.

She smiles. "Like a date?"

"Yeah," you say.

You are both just kidding around, and she rolls her eyes.

"OK," she says.

The other girls are going to the pool, getting massages, even going shopping... and you are walking into the woods.

The forests here and pretty, but they can be a bit hilly and thick. It's less a stroll than a hike, but at least you and Rebecca are athletes and the weather is good. You feel like you should have brought some water with you.

"What's wrong?" you ask Rebecca when she frowns.

"I just hope we are in the right place," she says.

"Right place for what?" you ask. "How would you know?"

"Because we already searched over that way," she says, looking back the way you came. "When we first came here."

"Searched? Searched for what?"

But she doesn't answer you because you can both see something up ahead. It's a metal fence. A fancy one like you would see around a graveyard. It has vines all over it.

You touch it. "What's this doing here?" You are pretty sure that like... a ton of land belongs to the sports company that owns the camp and stuff. There are other camps too, like the swim camp. There is no way you are at the edge... and you are like twenty miles outside the city.

"Is this unusual?" you ask.

"Definitely," Rebecca says.

You both follow the fence until you come to a gate. Beside the gate is a statue. It's the kind of statue you like: naked and female.

Oddly, the statue is like you... it has a penis, but it's a penis like the ones in classical paintings: tiny and not erect.

It's a pretty sexy lady, though.

"Cool," you say.

Rebecca tries to open the gate. "It's locked from the other side," she says.

"There's something here." At the base of the statue, you have found a small indentation. Something round is missing.

"Something goes here," Rebecca says.

"Yup." You check the time. "We better get back. We have to eat before this thing tonight."

"OK," Rebecca says, reluctantly following you.
