Lysossia, an unusual druid

(Author's note: Warning, fairly long chapter! I hope you all enjoy!)

Lex decided it would be wise to simply weigh his options. He opened his quest log while looking at his mini-map before noticing something interesting. He looked around to verify what he was thinking before coming to a conclusion. These locations were in order of distance away from his current location. If he had known this place would have been so big, he would have brought a backpack full of food and water. This truly limited his options, but with this in mind. They had only one option left. They would need to go to the forest to harvest supplies and defend that druid. He had never met a druid in person before, but if the stories were true. He simply needed to be respectful of the balance.

Divi spoke up before Lex could say anything. "Is that the ocean, daddy? It's really big and pretty." She looked over to the ocean and the sandy beach. Lex nodded before saying. "You're right, Divi. That is the ocean, but we'll be heading to the forest first. We need supplies first and foremost. On the plus side, there is a druid there we need to defend. However, I don't know what we'll be defending the druid from." Divi nodded while looking at the ocean still and asked. "Does that mean we'll be able to see the ocean later?"

Lex chuckled while turning to walk at a brisk pace towards the forest and said. "Yes, but follow me. We have much to do and only fifteen hours to do it in." Divi and Sazla looked to each other with a nod before following suit. After about half an hour of walking, they made it to the outskirts of the forest. By this time both Divi and Sazla had reverted to their original forms. Although they could hear the sound of several creatures (birds, insects, and other small critters) in the distance, Sazla moved up closer to Lex as her tail lifted up, but it stayed perfectly still as she said. "Something is very wrong here. I can smell blood in the distance. We should be cautious."

Lex nodded before saying. "I see. You two should take to the trees while following me. If anyone is out there. It is more likely that they will attack me if they think I am alone. When that happens, jump in at the first opportunity to strike." Divi pouted, but nodded before her form stretched out to take to the trees while Sazla scaled one on the opposite side of their path. He verified that no one had been watching before making certain that they were out of sight. Once he was certain of this, he continued his way deeper into the forest.

His pace slowed down dramatically when the creatures of the forest became eerily silent as he neared a small river up ahead. However, what he saw near that small river was rather strange. Lex couldn't believe his eyes. He saw a beautiful lamia with wavy light brown hair that ran down to her shoulders, serpent green eyes, full pouting light tanned lips, and lightly tanned skin for her human half, her lower snake half had bark toned scales with black stripes every foot or so. She was wearing a thin white shirt made of linen.

However, it was barely doing its job of hiding her breasts, stomach, and privates from view. Leaving an alluring outline of her slender form. He noticed she was carrying a light brown quarterstaff with a round wooden orb on the end which she held in her left hand. She was currently sitting, coiled up while holding and talking to a sapling, there was blood, broken metal and machinery around her. Although she was acting like a druid, he decided it was best to use Observe on her before making himself known.

Current thoughts: What am I to do? I wasn't expecting the gnomes to be back so soon, but I must protect the forest from their machines.

Lex lifted a brow as he read all of that and thought. 'Machines? That would be easier for my female self to handle.' He stepped out from the shadows of the tree and said. "Um, excuse me. Pardon my rudeness, but you seem to be in distress. What seems to be the problem?" Lysossia turned to him with a sad expression before looking up to the trees behind him and said. "Hmm, interesting company you keep, stranger. I am Lysossia, druid of this forest. My problem is more of the same." Her M score ticked up to 5.

Lysossia gestured to the blood, broken pieces of metal, and machinery on the forest floor before continuing to speak. "If you and your friends could buy me some time, I can summon a powerful guardian to stop their raiding once and for all." Lex nodded before asking. "How long do you need?" She sighed and said. "In there lies the problem. I will need twenty minutes to summon the guardian. If you would be so kind, I would be most grateful to you and your friends." Divi's voice came out from the tree to his right. "Twenty minutes? We got this!" Sazla's voice came out from the tree to his left. "The sooner we get started the better."

Lex started to chuckle and said. "We'll buy you time. You'd best get started." Lysossia nodded, her M score ticked up to 15 while setting down the sapling after uncoiling herself rather quickly. She turned to slither towards a lake that was down stream. Divi and Sazla stuck to the trees while they followed Lysossia. When they arrived at the lake, Lysossia had lifted both of her hands to the sky, sitting on her coiled tail as she chanted. "Mother Earth, hear my call. Your daughter needs your strength to stop these invaders." A storm started to brew above the forest and the wind picked up around the lake as she continued in a different dialect.

Lex heard the creaking of bark as the trees swayed from the **** of the wind. After two minutes had passed, Lysossia's mana had dropped by 25. However, this was when the gnomes arrived. A snap of several trees were heard as two deforestation mechs appeared, painted in camouflage. Unsurprisingly, the shield in front of the cockpit was made of glass, showing the gnome inside. These machines were fairly simple in design, it had three claws for its right hand for holding a tree while its right arm had a circular saw for cutting down a tree. The main frame was circular like a ball, supported by two sturdy legs. Lex used Observe on them and their mechs while one of them walked toward him.

Luckily they were rather slow, giving Lex time to read all of that, but amazingly enough. They made no sound despite the obvious weight. He stepped back right when the first mech's circular saw came at him, easily avoiding it, but it was too dangerous to get up close. He really only had one option to attack without his weapons as a man. He cast Drain on the first gnome, starting the ten second draining process upon that gnome sapping 11 health and mana and returning it to him. - 20 Hp and Mp, 11 damage and mp drained

Weapon: Unarmed 0 + (37) + 10% (alldmgup) = 40.7 = 41

Drain: 10 damage + 10% (alldmgup) = 11

Drain + Touching the target: 20 damage + 10% (alldmgup) = 22

Hp regen: 3.62 per min, 2.92 (Hp x 1%) + .7 (Endurance x 2%)

The gnome growled while continuing to charge at him, but after 6 more seconds, its life and mana dwindled until the gnome was no more. + 15 xp Divi and Sazla leaped from the trees upon the other mech. Divi's arms had changed into swords and easily sliced off the mech's arms. Sazla had formed a crystal sword roughly the length of her tail and thrust it through the glass and instantly killed the gnome inside. + 15 xp Every minute another two mechs appeared, but when the last minute arrived, that is when things took a sudden turn. 15 x 2 x 16 = 480 xp With each kill came $1.50, times 18 gave Lex $27.

After casting Drain so many times, it had leveled up three times. These were the results.

Drain has increased to lvl 2 - Duration has increased from 10 seconds to 15.

Drain has increased to lvl 3 - Amount drained per second has increased from 10 to 15.

Drain has increased to lvl 4 - Drain will chain to up to 1 target within 2 yd of the original target.

Lex and the girls beheld a much larger mech. It was at least twice the size of the others and far more lethal. It had the same general frame, but with several changes. Both arms had clawed hands, but what made them so lethal was the circular saw upon their forearms. Those saws could slide forward to cut down a tree that was being held in place or, in their case, their heads. Not only did it have extra shielding over the previous units weak points, but it had two cannons to fire with, one in the front and one in the back. What made matters worse was that the pilot was not visible from the outside, making Lex's previous strategy worthless. He had miscast Drain earlier and accidentally hit one of the mechs, only to receive an error message, telling him that he could not drain a mechanical target. However, this would not deter him. He cast Observe on it to receive whatever info he could from it.

Lex was looking it over when a high pitched male voice came from the unit. "Behold my Ultra Mech A.I.! This is the result of only a little bit of my research into this forest. Give it up. You have no chance to beat my greatest achievement!" Sazla was making her way behind the mech when a shot was fired from its back several inches from her feet, leaving a cannon ball in its wake as well as a half foot dent in the soil, but did 15 damage to her. The voice coughed before continuing to speak. "I will give you one chance to leave before I level this forest. It can be with or without you in it. Your choice!"

Lex sighed as he used the mental command. 'Unequip Black Slacks (Keys) (Phone) (Wallet) and Black Work Shoes (Socks).' Leaving Lex in only his White Button Up T-shirt and Boxers before using the mental command. 'Switch to female.' Lex's view quickly changed as he became a she and her White Button Up T-shirt became baggy, but luckily her wider hips were still held nicely by her Boxers. She looked up at the Ultra Mech A.I. and said. "You aren't the only one with A.I. twerp!" As she cast A.I. Mechanoid and selected the choice Dps (Yorha S9, Male). - 100 Mp

A small blue portal appeared before a young boy stepped out and Yorha S9's portrait, health, and mana bar appeared below her own like a pet's would in a video game. He had white hair down to his ears and his eyes were light blue. He was wearing a black leather top, gloves, shorts and boots. Lex used Observe on him after saying. "I'm going to call you, Solace." Yorha S9's name updated to Solace.

Solace bowed his head to Lex before lifting up his arms into a fighting stance while saying. "Thank you for my new name, Mistress Lex. Am I right to assume this thing is our enemy?" Lex nodded and said. "Yes, show it no mercy, but keep yourself safe." Solace nodded before rushing the Ultra Mech A.I. as several shots were fired his direction, but he easily avoided them, landing one kick for 55 damage before using a Shock strike with his fists, causing 83 electrical damage. 50 + 10% (alldmgup) = 55, 75 + 10% (alldmgup) = 83 (82.5), 55 + 83 = 138 damage

Lex did her best to avoid any stray shots that came her way. Divi and Sazla were doing their best to fire what they could at the Ultra Mech A.I. without harming Solace. Divi got in a clean hit for 50 damage, but was hit in return for 5 health. Sazla shot 3 volleys of crystals, hitting the target for only 15 damage per volley. 50 + (3 x 15) = 95 damage However, Lex was unprepared for how much faster and wider the Ultra Mech A.I.'s arm swing was with its saw. When it swung wide, Lex jumped back, but Lex's shirt was caught, ripping it to shreds along the buttons and causing 150 damage by just grazing Lex's skin. - 150 Hp

Lex yelled out in pain, feeling the saw blades hitting her skin as her top ripped open, exposing her breasts and stomach. However, Lex knew that at this rate the Ultra Mech A.I. wouldn't last much longer, but that is when things got weird. That voice rang out from the Ultra Mech A.I. and said. "Mm, sexy, but I see something that I can use. These unmanned mechs will be your downfall!" As an energy wave shot out from it's waist, all the previously unmanned mechs twitched, becoming activated once more and started to attack them. Lex began pouting when an idea came to her, calling out to Divi. "Divi, I need you to get the Mechs as close together as you can." Lex looked to Sazla then Solace and said. "I need you two to continue doing damage to the boss. I will handle the adds."

Everyone moved to position as Lex continued to pout while channeling, Nature's Wrath while Divi rounded up all of the Mechs. Lex's pouting increased its radius from 3 yd to 6, allowing for all of those units to be hit for 28 damage per second for 3 seconds. - 75 Mp, 25 + 10% (alldmgup) = 28 (27.5) damage, 28 x 3 = 84 This coupled with Divi's strikes killed all of the extra mechs within 6 seconds. Lex received, Reinforced Steel Scrap x 34. - 75 Mp, 30 x 2 x 17 = 1,020 xp Some of this damage even hit the boss, reducing its health by another 112. Solace had managed to hit the boss two more times with Shock, dealing another 83 damage, twice. 83 (82.5) x 2 = 166 damage Sazla had spent this time avoiding attacks from the boss.

The Ultra Mech A.I. came to a halt, sitting down as a buzzer started to sound, similar to what you'd hear from a nuclear meltdown, causing everyone to cover their ears except for Lysossia who was too busy with her summoning ritual. The voice from before came from the mech. "If I can't have this forest, no one will!" Luckily, before that could happen, everyone struck the Ultra Mech A.I. at once, putting it down for good. The buzzer stopped and the unit wound down before falling to pieces in front of them. Divi and Sazla both leveled up when Lex received the following.

Lex let out a breath after reading all of that, noticing her top had been repaired, but she still felt off about having been attacked and exposed in such a way. Divi, Sazla, and Solace all walked over to Lex as Lysossia finished her ritual. Lysossia yelled out with both hands in the air as her mana ran dry. "The gnomes of this land have earned your ire, show them no mercy!" At that moment the water of the lake started to rise into the air, several clouds formed, filling with all of that water before heading into the distance. It wasn't long before intense rain and lightening/thunder were heard in the distance. However, not long after the cloud came back, returning the water from whence it came.

Lysossia's body shook as she lowered her head and said. "It is done." Her M score shot up to 50. However, when she turned around, her eyes widened and asked. "Um, where did the other man go?" Lex smiled and said. "I was he. I, had to switch forms to use the abilities I needed for combat." She used the mental command. 'Switch to male.' Changing gender rapidly before Lysossia's eyes as her F score shot up to 50. While Lex was changing genders, Solace's portal reopened taking him back to wherever he had been previously. Lex then used the mental command. 'Equip Black Slacks (Keys) (Phone) (Wallet) and Black Work Shoes (Socks).' Once clothed, Lex began to speak again. "I am sorry for the confusion, Lysossia. However, I am still me regardless of gender."

Lysossia brought a hand to her lips before nodding and said. "I see. Well, as I stated before. You all have my gratitude for what you have done. This was no small feat." She looked to all of them then back to Lex before continuing to speak. "If you'd be so kind. I would like to know the names of my saviors." Lex, Divi, and Sazla all gave their introductions. Lysossia bowed her head before speaking. "I am humbled to know your names. However, I am sad to say that I do not have anything to give you for what you have done. If you would return to me in a few days. I promise to have something fitting for you all. If you desire anything in the mean time, please. Do not hesitate to ask."

Lex opened his character sheet to put his 10 new skill points into Strength, increasing it from 32 to 42. He felt it best to have it to fall back on, just in case. However, while listening to her, he began to wonder what he should ask for. Should he ask for her to accompany them? Maybe simply ask for food and water for their journey? Should he ask to stay there a brief amount of time to rest before continuing their journey? Or simply nothing and gather supplies before leaving her forest? Hmm and where to next?
