Lydia Bowman, Attorney. An Aversion to Disappointing Others

Lydia wished she hadn't had to travel halfway across the country to counsel some screw-up brat. At 35 she was one of the youngest and brightest stars at her law firm. But in order to move up the ladder she had to take cases. Bad Cases. Hard Cases.

Cases she could not win but had to try. Cases like Mr. Steven Ludick. Dropped out of college, living off a trust fund, is accused of sexual **** by a nudist of all people... Sigh. She pinched her nose and tugged her glasses off. A strand of her long black hair drifted down with them and she let it hang. She was tired, it was late. She could use a shower.

The hotel was owned by the Ludick family and Steven was thoughtful enough to provide her with one of the best rooms. In the shower she relaxed in the hot water and relished in the incredibly fragrant and smooth soap--'Disappointment' what an odd name for a soap! Mmm. She was going to sleep well tonight.

Afterwards she wrapped herself in a towel and admired her curvaceous figure and caramel skin. Good money paid for a good trainer and esthetician. She winked at herself and maneuvered back to the living room giggling.

She had a new email, it was 1:15AM who was emailing her.

'Lydia,

Hey sorry it's late, I just wanted to go over the case. Would you mind letting me up to your room so we can talk? I heard you lawyers over at Sharpe & Lane are available 24/7!

Steve-o.'

Lydia was about to simply ignore the email as another highly inappropriate remark from this entitled brat when her knees started to shake. In fact her whole body was shaking. Suddenly, without warning, the thought of disappointing him was too much to bear.

She began to type back

'Hello Mr. Ludick. I will be right down to meet you. Please allow me a moment to dress myself.'

Less than five seconds after she hit send and stood up there was a knock at the door.

"Ms. Bowden? Could you let me in? I was really hoping to meet you in your room?"
