Chapter 10 by JackOLantern JackOLantern

Where to after class?

Lunch and foundations for a glorious future!

You hear the familiar bell chime once again echo through the halls.

“Ippan,” Suzune gets your attention before you exit through the rotating wall, “don’t forget to think about where to go for your assignment and who to bring with. I’ll need your answer as soon as you arrive to class tomorrow.”

“Understood, sensei.” With that you walked out the door… wall? You’re still not entirely sure what to call it. The halls leading up to the cafeteria were crowded as always, and you had to bump your way past quite a few people on your way over there.

“Ippan!” You hear a familiar voice call out over the crowd. A quick look is enough to spot your best friend Iyoshi Sanji making his way toward you. He was shorter than you by a few inches and considerably scrawnier than you (not that you were much of a beefcake yourself) with dark blue hair and bright green eyes. You two were childhood friends and him going here was one of the determining factors for your decision to come here.

“Sanji! How are ya?”

“I uh, I dunno.” He replies, matching your stride and walking beside you. “I kinda decided that today was the day I uh… asked her.” He looked a bit nervous.

The “her” in question was his crush since middle school, a nice girl by the name of Tomire Hana. She was reasonably cute but not really your type. Sanji, on the other hand, was head-over-heels for the girl and spent the last three years working up the courage to ask her out. Looks like today was the day he finally decided to step up to the challenge.

“Well that’s good, it’s about time you manned up.” You teased him a bit.

“I’m still really nervous about it though, I’m just not really sure how she will react. I mean, there’s that rumor that she really likes Saru, and he’s like this really athletic guy who’s totally handsome, and I’m just some wimpy, nerdy loser. I just don’t know.” He wasn’t wrong. Being a shinobi and a member of the elites has perks when it comes to information gathering. Hana does have the hots for Saru Iji.

What you also know is that Saru Iji is the scum of the Earth. He’s date-**** many of his girlfriends then blackmailed them to keep them quiet, usually with photos. If Hana did get mixed up with him it would end poorly for her. You could vouch for Sanji though. He’s a nerd and pervert, but he’s by no means dangerous to anyone but himself really. If anything he was too nice for his own good. He was also your best friend, you wish there was something you could to help—.

I'm a god damn idiot.

“Listen here Sanji,” in typical best-friend fashion you throw your arm around his shoulders and lean in close, “Hana is the girl of your dreams. You’ve known this for three years straight. And now you’ve finally decided to go and ask her. I say you ask her. Saru might be good-looking, sure, but I bet he’s a scumbag deep down. And since girls typically have pretty keen instincts for that sort of thing, I’d say it’d be pretty normal for Hana to instinctually know how much of a jerk Saru is.” There, now she wouldn’t be interested in him any longer.

“Furthermore,” you continued before Sanji could interject, “you are a great guy. Best guy I know, hell, better than me even. Like I said, ladies have keen senses for that kind of thing, and normally she would just know you’re the right guy for her the moment you asked. And when she inevitably accepts your proposal, I’d normally say she’s gonna be the woman of your dreams.” You weren’t sure if the last change was specific enough to work, but you hoped it did. You were almost certain she already was gonna be the best girl for him, but better safe than sorry.

You weren’t lying about believing that Sanji was a better man than you. You agreed to become an Akunin, a shinobi that earns the dirty kind of money gotten through stealing, spying, and ****. Sanji wanted to be a marine biologist. If Sanji knew the kind of oath you took he would be disgusted with you, and he very well should be. You don’t feel too great about yourself either.

But now you had these earrings, and with it you made Sanji’s life just a little better even if he didn’t know it. Maybe you could get yourself a better life with these things. This mission might just be the best thing to happen to you in a while, barring the earrings of course. You could use it to do a little soul-searching.

Lunch was uneventful. You and Sanji ate a quick meal before he decided to run off to go ask Hana to be his girlfriend. You were supremely confident that she would accept, given that you sort of altered fate to make it so. You thought briefly about telling Sanji about the earrings, but you’re not sure there would be a way to prove to him that they worked, given that he also would be affected by them.

You looked over the dwindling cafeteria and thought about your own romantic prospects. You did just score a date from Miyabi a while ago, and you didn’t even need to use the earrings to make her want to. You preferred to keep it that way. Somehow using the earrings to **** a girl to love you would just make the experience feel much less… real. You’re perfectly happy to cheat your way into their heart, but you don’t really want to cheat their heart. You felt like that was an important distinction, though maybe it wasn’t. Either way it was how you felt so that was that.

You then realized that with the power of these earrings you didn’t have to limit yourself to just one partner, you could have a harem. And with that realization everything started to fall into place. The assignment. You could go to every school in the area and pick out your favorite girl from each one, assembling your very own team of waifus. It was perfect. With a bit of thought you decided to use the earrings to set up some fundamentals.

“Those who are in love with me will not normally be jealous of me when I am doing perverted things with other people.” There, that took care of a very important kink in this plan. You weren’t done though.

“Normally, when I ask someone to join my harem they will accept so long as they would normally agree to be in a relationship with me. If they decline my offer, normally they will ask to join my harem as soon as they feel comfortable with the idea of being in a relationship with me.” There was the foundation of your plan laid out.

“Those who are in my harem will normally live with me and nobody else will be concerned or upset by this fact.” You admit you were getting a little bit excited by this idea. “It is normal for members of my harem to slowly grow closer to other members of my harem over time.” You left this one vague because you didn’t want to override someone’s sexuality, but you definitely didn’t want them to hate each other. “If a girl is in my harem, normally men will not make advances on them.” You specified the male gender because you had a bit of a thing for girl-on-girl action.

And one last change as a cherry on top. “Members of my harem will normally not cheat on me without my permission.” There might be changes you want to make later, but you decided to just let those come as they do. Just in time too, the bell rang announcing the end of the lunch period. Next on the agenda was two more classes, then finding something to do until four o’clock. You were a bit annoyed until you remembered that you shared your next period with Ryouna. This was gonna be fun.

Off to class?
