Lottery Winner

You knew there was very little chance of you winning. It was just a publicity stunt. But it was - if the contest was legitimate - for you to win a fictional character made real! And owned.

You knew you couldn't afford a RealDream character or even their cheaper "bootleggers", as they were called (cosplayers motivated, incentivized, contracted and brainwashed to stay in character).

But you had no chance if you didn't take a chance. You spent everything for the month that wasn't budgeted out for essentials. You even spread your chances and bought a couple of - truth in advertising were called - Bootlegged tickets

And you won! Against the odds, you have the right to claim a real-life character!

Only there was a problem or. You didn't get to choose which character you wanted. You had to accept the "in-stock" character or go without.

Was the character a cosplay Knock-off character - so out of it she actually believed what she was who she was impersonating?

Was it an actual character tele-portaled over into this world? But one you have a difficult time dealing with as they retained all of their original abilities and sense of responsibility?
