What happens first?

Lost

It was to their misfortune that Jamie had not written down the directions for the shortcut someone at the football game had given her. After the game was over, she and her four companions piled into the mini van, and started down the road, oblivious as to where they would actually end up going. They had driven for quite some time, with Isabella behind the wheel, since she was the only capable licensed driver.

"We've been driving for more than thirty five minutes," grumbled Stephanie from the back seat. "I think we're lost."

"No we're not lost," Retorted Jamie from the front passenger seat. "I think this is the way the guy told me to go."

"You think?" scoffed Stephanie. "A while ago you said you were sure. This is America. Everything is mapped out."

"Well, this road isn't on the map," Jamie fired back. "Just leave the driver alone. She'll figure out where we're going."

All eyes turned to Isabella. "We'll keep going this way. We're bound to run into something out here, sooner or later." Just after she said it. what should appear over the next hill but a small country store to their right?

"Pull over! Pullover!" an overexcited Stephanie cried out. "We can get directions here."

Isabella managed to pull off the side of the road, right next to the store. She started to get out of the van, then hesitated. "I'm not going in by myself. Someone else has to come along."

"I'll go," volunteered Jamie.

"Hey. I gotta go pee," proclaimed Melanie. "I'm coming too."

The three girls went into the store together to ask directions. Meanwhile, a very sinister looking SUV had pulled into the store's small parking area. An older woman got out, dressed in a dark pantsuit. No one saw what she was carrying with her under her jacket. If they had, perhaps warning bells would have sounded, and quite a few lives could have been saved.

While the strange woman made her way inside the store, two of the girls returned to the van. Jamie and Isabella climbed into the front of the van, and buckled in. "So where is Mel?" inquired Stephanie.

"I guess she's still in the bathroom," answered Isabella. "She'll be out soon."

Jamie looked over at Bell, as they often called her, with a devilish glint in her eye. "Hey, why don't we have some fun? We could pretend to drive off and leave her." The girls all giggled about the prank they were going to pull.

"Yeah, it'll be funny!" Caroline chimed. Make her run after the van!"

Sure enough when Melanie came out o the store, Isabella put the van in drive, and started forward as if to leave. "Come on! Stop! whined Melanie.

"Okay, get in," said Jamie. She knew Isabella's foot was still on the gas. As soon as Melanie tried to reach for the door, the van lurched forward again, but to everyone's dismay, Isabella had clipped the front of the SUV.

An irate Melanie opened the slider door. "See what your little joke has caused? Now what do we do?"

"I guess we're going to have to leave a note, and let them know what happened," stated Isabella. "It would be the right thing to do."

Jamie spoke up. "Screw that! No one saw us hit it. Let's just get out of here!" A majority of the girls decided this was the best course of action to take. "Just look at it this way," Caroline calmly said. "At least you'll have your first hit and run out of the way."

Isabella, deciding the majority ruled, backed up, and pulled out, and got back on the road.

They traveled for quite some distance before Stephanie once again grumbled. "We've been driving for a while now. Which way did the tell you to go?"

"The old man in the store told us to go down this way for about a half mile, then turn right onto Horsekiller Road," answered Jamie. "He said to look for some place called The Eyes."

"Are you sure he said to look for The Eyes, and he didn't say something like "I's been livin' here all my life" like all the hicks talk around here?"

Jamie rolled her eyes. "Yes, I'm certain. He said it would take us through an area called The Eyes, and that we should follow the road until we hit the Interstate."

"That's all good and well, but I think we've driven a greater distance than a half a mile, and there's no road to the right."

Isabella turned to Jamie. "Steph has a point. We have been driving for much longer than we should have. I think we should turn around, and go back to the store again, and ask the old man to write it down for us." With that being said, she turned the van around, and headed back toward the store.

As they made their way back, they were suddenly met by a vehicle with only one headlight. They all knew it was the SUV they had hit back at the store. "Well, there he goes," said Caroline as she turned to watch out the back of the van. Then she became alarmed. "He's turning around! Guys! He's coming after us!"

(Author's note: This does not follow the movie exactly. After all, it has to be, how shall I say it? Chyoo'd up? This is the adult version of the movie that will find our five heroines in dire peril they may never escape from. No SUV's were hit by a bunch of teenage girls in a mini van during the writing of this chapter. However, some people did have to take a potty break. But.you didn't need to know that, did you? The author apologizes to those who may be overly sensitive about taking potty breaks. No toilets or urinals were harmed either. Any similarities to events either real or fictional is purely coincidental. Stay tuned for chapter two... Thank you for reading!)
