Lore

This page is intended to be a guide for understanding the world of Unconverted, and to get a look into the rationale for creating a story like this.

The word "Zombie" is believe to originate from either the Kongo nzambi, meaning "God", or zumbi, meaning "Fetish". In Haitian folklore, a zombie was a person who had been brought back to life after their to become a .

In 1968, George Romero's film, Night of the Living Dead, portrayed a new type of zombie, which was a corpse brought back to life after which would attack the living. The word "Zombie" is not actually used in the movie, but was rather applied to the creatures by fans.

Over time, a more scientifically based type of zombie began to dominate media, coming with early 90s video games such as Resident Evil. This type of zombie is a human being who has been infected with a virus, usually the result of a nefarious megacorporation's schemes, who bites people to turn them into zombies. Often, they can be killed only by destruction of the brain or severing of the spine.

Zombies were first created following a botched human trial resulting in the deaths of 40 test participants and staff at the TRIGEN pharmaceutical corporation after they were converted into zombies by a virus developed in the hopes of creating a way to cure aging permanently. Unexpectedly, the virus transformed them into mindless, sex-obsessed monsters capable of spreading the "cure" to others through sexual contact. The blame was pinned on the lead scientist, who was fired and disgraced in the public eye. Driven to nihilism and despair, the scientist decided to exact upon the world, recreating and improving upon the failed anti-aging virus to unleash upon humanity.

These events are playable in my previous game, Uninfected, downloadable at TFGamessite here.

Why Zombies?

For me, it's really about the peril and the horror. There's nothing like a mortal threat to get the heart racing, and I think that sexual activities are much better enjoyed as excited as you can possibly be. Viagra operates on this principle, in fact.

As you can clearly tell, for me, a major part of the allure of the sex-zombie-apocalypse fantasy is the transformation. It represents something that you can struggle and resist and ultimately if you cannot do so, if you fail and you are not strong enough, there is always a safety net to catch you, such that no matter how badly you mess up, the worst that will happen to you is that you lose all ability to think and all ability to do anything but experience and seek endless, bacchanalian pleasure, from now till the end of time. It's like a twisted pastiche of Heaven.

I see mindlessness as a temptation, the desire to be rid of all anxiety and stress and to do nothing but feel good all the time. I have expressed this feeling in the form of the infected of Unconverted. It is an interesting concept, I think, because to some extent we all possess the wish to be subsumed - again, I believe this is reflected in the Judeo-Christian concept of Heaven, a place of eternal rest and endless bliss. Like Sisyphus, we toil without end, with respite coming only when we are six feet underground.

Though we may be tempted to let go, there is much in our lives that we hang on for. We all have something to live for, and so we cannot allow ourselves to simply slip away. The infected are a metaphor for many things - addiction, hedonism, suicide, . I see this type of desire reflected, actually, in a very wide range of popular sexual media. Though this is certainly a very unique fetish of mine, I have received generally positive feedback for this type of content before, so I hope that others beside me can enjoy it just as much as I do.

Zombie Biology

Task ZERO - Expeditious Field Report on Novel Human Hypersexuality Disease

This report aims to cover the basics of what we know after three days of operating in the field at ground zero of the NHHD outbreak. Though many refer to NHHD patients as "zombies", we consider this term dehumanizing and do not wish to compare a pressing contagious disease outbreak with a form of Voodoo magic.

NHHD suffers exhibit an awkward, stumbling gait, unnatural skin, typically green in color, and white, pupilless eyes. They are blind, and seek victims through sound and smell - and sometimes, touch. Individual infected are not very dangerous, but they can easily overwhelm even well prepared groups in large enough numbers. Though unsteady on their feet, the infected are capable of running at surprisingly fast speeds. Though this should be somewhat obvious, the infected do not feel pain; instead, all sensations are converted into sexual pleasure. Critically, zombies are practically invincible; even destroying the brain will only temporarily stop a zombie, but this can be regenerated.

It is important to note that despite their outward appearance, NHHD sufferers are not dead! Though they do not exhibit normal signs of life, such as breathing, a heartbeat, etc. the fact that they are ambulatory means that they cannot be considered dead. There is no such thing as magic, only advanced technology. It is unknown how sufferers are able to keep going, however, without access to nutrients or oxygen for aerobic respiration. So far, medical examinations yield no answer to this perplexing question.

Anyone who is infected with NHHD will become increasingly sexually aroused. Close proximity with sufferers accelerates this, and direct sexual intercourse speeds it up tenfold. Inevitably, anyone who is infected will eventually orgasm, at which point their physiology will rapidly change, in a process colloquially referred to as "zombification". The process by which this occurs is unknown at this time. Preventing physical stimulation will not prevent transformation, as subjects will still eventually experience hands-free orgasm as a result of overwhelming sexual arousal caused by the virus. The longest anybody has ever lasted is around 8 hours, strapped down to prevent masturbation.

Zombification is permanent with no known or theorized method for reversing the process. Even if it were possible to de-zombify someone, the conversion process permanently atrophies and destroys large parts of their brain matter, which, if we were to somehow cure them, would result in a vegetative or comatose state.

Why do NHHD sufferers seek humans to infect? Why can't they just be satisfied doing it among themselves? So far, we have yet to find a reason. Our working theory is that they derive a form of satisfaction from converting people, as infected have been seen showing signs of sexual pleasure, such as moaning and genital emission, during and after conversion even when no direct stimulation to erogenous zones has been applied. In other words: They do it because they enjoy it.
