Chapter 27 by KittyRed KittyRed

What should I do now?

Look for Sister Helen

I decided that the correct thing to do now was head directly to the confessional and take this burden out of my shoulders once and for all. Something inside me screamed for relief and the only way I knew how to be in peace with myself was accepting my situation and seek help from those who surrounded me.

Halfway there, I was interrupted by Sister Silvia who put her hand gently on my shoulder.

Sister Silvia: Sister Layla! It was so nice of you to save some of the bread you made for our breakfast!

Layla: It's nothing, Sister.

Sister Silvia: Normally, when the sisters make bread to take to town they prefer to not make more than is strictly necessary so they can sleep a little longer. You are truly an example of sacrifice and diligence!

Layla: Did you want to say anything else? The truth is I'm heading somewhere

Sister Silvia: I wouldn't want to take away anymore of your time, sister. I imagine you must want to rest. Nevertheless, before you go to your room, I'd love for you to meet sisters Nadine and Camille. It's funny because they're actually sisters! They arrived this morning. They don't seem very happy, I guess they were **** to become nuns, so don't expect much out of them.

I decided it wouldn't take much time, so I went with her to greet them both.

Layla: It's always a pleasure seeing new faces around here. I'm Sister Layla. If you have any questions, don't hesitate and ask, I'll be delighted to help.

The sisters ignored my greeting. Their faces went blank and they seemed to look right past me. I decided to keep on walking to my destination. I fumed a little, thinking of how ill-mannered both of them were. In any case, I had just realized how tired I was after the morning's exertions. A nap wouldn't hurt anyone...

Better go sleep for a bit
