Lois Did Not Say It Right

A light shone through the paper bag. Wedged as it was in the back of the booth, the reporter's body hid the sudden glow, but Lois Lane stared in fascination as it grew brighter and brighter...and somehow it occurred to her that it was not the idol itself that was glowing, but something within the idol, some hidden secret she had not yet guessed, captured within that squat, gravid belly.

Then the light faded.

For a moment, there was silence.

Rrrrrrwwwwl.

The reporter's nose twitched. A rack of Chinese pork ribs had just been brought out to the buffet, hot and steaming and gooey. Her stomach's growl was loud enough that Zatanna could hear it from the other end of the line. The witch swore.

"What happened?" Lois said, her mouth starting to water. "It worked, right?"

A pause on the end of the phone.

"Not...quite. You said brake, not break. The enchantment is still there, it's just...on hold. In abeyance."

Lois shook her head. The words sounded exactly the same to her.

"So what does that mean?" The pregnant reporter's body began to tremble. She could almost feel her sugar crashing. She needed to eat, now.

"Your unnatural hunger is still there," Zatanna said. "But it shouldn't be able to make you any more pregnant, or help you process your meal any faster. Once you get full, the hunger effect should die down. I suggest you go ahead and eat, I'll send someone to pick up the idol."

Lois Lane didn't even hear that last part. She was already stumbling out of the booth, the waitresses eyeing her swollen, gravid gut, thicker thighs and ass with alarm. Her small breasts now seemed swollen, though still modest compared to the gut that pushed out, the exercise shirt and pants unable to hide the swell of her distended abdomen. They swore she hadn't been that big when she came in here...

...and Lois Lane was only going to get bigger.
