"When I got back to the lab this morning, the computer told me the virus levels were stabilizing. So far, all I can confirm is that the initial presentation of the infection is similar to a simple cold. Mild symptoms, and that's all. I have administered general antiviral medication to avoid detection, but I'll have to wait it out to see if the viral load decreases further.”
"Infections aboard a starship are rare given the strict medical screening prior to leaving Earth. Hopefully, I will make progress before the command goons and my superiors discover something isn't right. Gosh, my manager is not going to like this. Maybe I should just come clean about all of this?"
I pause, feeling a wave of heat wash over me. My head feels heavy, and my vision blurs slightly. "I feel hot. I think I should sleep more."
I lean back in my chair, the fatigue and stress of the situation weighing heavily on me. "Signing off."
With a sigh, I turn off the computer and head to my bunk, hoping that rest will help me recover and buy me some time to find a solution.
