What's next?
Locked in her room
Alexa had locked herself in her room, crying. She didn’t want Diane or God forbid Michelle see her like this. “She’s been in there for hours,” Diane said. “What could have happened?”
“I tried entering,” Michelle said. “I tried, but she told me to go away.”
“I don’t understand,” Diane said. “She was fine at the fair. Did she seem… quiet to you?”
“I…I mean yeah, but I figured she was just flustered,” Michelle said. “I mean I did kiss her.”
“Maybe she feels conflicted,” Diane said. “She has been seeing some boys lately.”
“When does Carol come home?” Michelle asked.
“Tonight,” Diane said. “But I’m not going to leave until this is resolved. I need to check in on her. She probably has a rash by now.”
“Come on,” Michelle said. “I’m not just going to sit here, are you?”
Diane shook her head. “Okay, let’s do this.”
The two approached the door. They heard sniffles coming from the room. Diane knocked on the door sharply.
“Go away,” Alexa said. “I don’t want to talk right now.”
“Lexi…” Michelle said, calmly. “Come on, open the door.”
“No,” Alexa said, sternly. “I won’t.”
“Lexi, please…” Michelle said.
“Look, I won’t ask any questions,” Diane said. “But I need to check your diaper…”
“I’m not a baby!” Alexa yelled.
“Don’t use that tone with me!” Diane yelled turning on her mom voice and then sighing. “Alexa, please… I didn’t mean that… please just open the door…”
“NO!” Alexa yelled. “Now go away!”
“What’s going on?” A voice said from behind
Michelle and Diane turned to see Carol standing with her bags.
