Chapter 14 by Tonyrolo Tonyrolo

What's next?

Liv, Meet Charlie

It transpired that Joey did enjoy Sons of Anarchy, though perhaps not as much as Charlie, who became highly animated at several key plot points and demanded to watch another episode right after every cliff hanger, despite having seen it all before. Although he was still extremely conscious of how dangerous his new companion could potentially be, Joey couldn't help but enjoy her company.

It turned out he and Charlie really did have highly compatible personalities. Conversation between the pair flowed naturally and without effort, while their humour was near identical. Joey was absolutely determined not to fall for his handler, at the very least not within the first 24 hours of living with her, but it was impossible to deny the appeal in his new roommate.

Up until now, Joey had always considered Kayleigh to be his ideal woman, and maybe she still was, but Charlie caused a different kind of sensation in him - while Kayleigh made Joey feel happy and comfortable, Charlie got him buzzing with excitement. Sure, some of that may have come from the fact she was so unpredictable, and possibly even dangerous, but Joey's endorphins were always flowing when Charlie was close by, and it made him feel alive. Also, sometimes Kayleigh being so relentlessly politically correct and virtuous in every situation could be a drag. There were no such issues with Charlie. When Joey made a mean joke, rather than scold, him she would slap him on the arm and laugh quite genuinely, with a smile that reached her eyes.

Joey was under no illusions about his relationship with the secret agent though. He knew almost nothing about Charlie, not even her real name, the entire persona he enjoyed so much could yet turn out to be an act - albeit an extremely convincing one - and, for all he knew, she might decide to kill him at any moment.

The way he saw it, Kayleigh was still the one. She was like a perfect real world girlfriend, who would help him to become the best version of himself that he could be. Charlie was more like the girl of his dreams, who would let Joey be whatever he wanted but who he wasn't supposed to meet, let alone date, in real life for a myriad of very good reasons. Then there was Liv, his actual girlfriend, who had given Joey the most intoxicating sexual experiences of his life, and whose emotionally reserved nature outside the bedroom only added to her mysterious allure, but whose personality was nothing like his own.

Trying to juggle all three of those women in his life at once was sure to become a beautiful nightmare for Joey, especially as he doubted any of them would play nicely together. So far, only Liv and Kayleigh had met. They hadn't taken to each other at all, and that was probably the least combustible combination of Joey's girls.

Another dynamic was about to be tested, as the doorbell rang and Liv entered the scene. She didn't seem too impressed by Charlie's presence.

"Who's our guest?" she asked, folding her arms disapprovingly.

"Liv, meet Charlotte. She's actually going to be living here too"

"My friends call me Charlie!" the undercover agent waved genially from the couch.

"Hello Charlotte, I'm Olivia" came the terse response, before Liv turned back to Joey with a glare "You didn't tell me there would be someone else living with us when I agreed to move here"

"It was a bit of a last minute thing, but Charlie is an old friend who lives in the city, and she got us a really sweet deal on this place"

"Okay, well I'm here now, so I guess I'll have to live with it won't I?" Liv sulked.

"Um, Joey, wasn't there something else you wanted to tell your girlfriend?" Charlie nudged her new buddy with a wink.

"What now?" Olivia looked at her partner impatiently.

"My friend Charlie is an extremely honest person. In fact, you believe everything she says without question"

"Fine, as long as she's trustworthy why not just have her live with us for no fucking reason?" Liv seethed "I'm going to go and get changed"

"Actually about that.." Charlie cut in quickly "One quirk about this apartment I should probably mention is that it's actually extremely dangerous for you to have any clothing on in here, even your underwear. The odd thing is, it's fine for me and Joey to wear whatever we want, but you really do need to be naked at all times, for your own safety. Luckily, you don't see that as a deal breaker to living here, just an annoyance"

"Great, when were you planning on telling me about this. Joey?" Liv asked her boyfriend accusingly as she frantically undressed and tossed her clothes into a pile on the other side of the room.

It was clear she wasn't happy about this development, though neither was she mad enough to do anything more than sulk.

"So now I'm living with a stranger, and I can't even wear clothes in my own apartment? This dream home you promised me just keeps getting better and better" she pouted, placing her hands on her hips like she usually did when she was pissed with Joey "I'm going to go and turn the heating up. You two are just going to have to deal with it"

"Oh God, I love her! She's going to be so much fun to live with!" Charlie clapped and giggled with delight once Liv had left the room.

"Was that really necessary?" Joey asked as he concealed his hard-on with a strategically placed cushion.

"That would actually be an extremely effective tactic for neutralising and disarming dangerous criminals without hurting them, I needed to see if it worked"

"Okay, well Liv isn't a dangerous criminal, so are you going to let her have her clothes back?"

"Eventually, probably. For now, I don't think I am" Charlie grinned wickedly at Joey "Oh come on, like you even want me to!"

"Fine, but just for the record, I'm not giving you that kind of power over Kayleigh, so don't even ask"

"Right, your girlfriend is fair game for me to fuck with, but your work colleague is totally off limits. Got it!" Charlie smirked with a mock salute "Now can we get back to our show? I was thinking of ordering us pizza. My treat."

"Okay, thanks, that does sound good"

"What are we getting? You aren't going to be one of those people who bitches about pineapples not belonging on pizza are you? 'cos if you are then you and I going to have our first falling out"

"I'm good with pineapple"

"You see?" Charlie smiled and leaned in so her head was resting on Joey's shoulder as she made the call "I told you we were going to hit it off"
