Listen to the teachings of Kreia (KOTOR II spoilers!)

Jereli: As you know, Kreia was once one of the masters who taught Revan. She was the perfect embodiment of what this **** is expected to be. To fully understand the ****, one must know the teachings of both the Jedi and the Sith. She knew that that was why she was Revan's favourite teacher. She could provide him with what the other narrow minded masters could not, a broader perspective of the galaxy. To achieve this, she had to study the teachings of the Jedi and become a Sith herself, only to finally find the truth in between.

By aiding others you may ease their suffering, but if overdone they will only rely on you for help and you deprive them of the lessons of hard work. If you refuse to help others, they may never survive long enough to win their own battles and strengthen themselves. The galaxy needs its heroes and villains to maintain the balance of the ****. No side should be overwhelmingly powerful, instead, all should follow the path of a compromise between the two.

Kreia thus wanted to recreate the Jedi order after the Jedi civil war, but she failed. The Jedi remained just as narrow minded as they have always used to be. We are the ones who inherited her work and we must continue, in order to realize her dream one day. Do you remember what I told you, the greatest threat is to the Jedi? Their lack of knowledge about their emotions... All they do is completely cut themselves off, but that is impossible for any living thing to completely isolate themselves emotionally. At times, you too will encounter situations where you have to combat your inner light or dark. The key to success is not denying either of them, but learning how to embrace and control both! Your emotions are not your enemies! This is where the Jedi are mistaken.
