What happens next?
Listen to a conversation
The blue glow of Adrian's phone was a beacon in the gloom of the rooftop, an abrupt reminder of the outside world, of the laws and limits that seemed not to apply up there. Magi, submerged up to her shoulders in the water that now felt viscous and oppressive, held her breath. She was completely naked, and the water was no longer a hiding place but a curtain of steam that could dissipate at any moment, fully revealing her.
Adrian, with his back to her, picked up the phone with obvious annoyance.
"Hello?" His voice sounded sharp, impatient.
Silence. Then, a subtle change in his posture. His back tensed. Irritation gave way to focused, almost cautious, attention.
"No, it's not a good time," he said, instinctively lowering his voice, but the stillness of the night and the water acting as a strange acoustic conductor allowed Magi to catch fragments.
She sank a little deeper, until the water touched her lower lip, still as a statue. She crossed her arms over her chest underwater, trying to bend her body to take up the least space possible, wishing to become invisible.
"—I know, but next week's shipment has to be..." Adrian's voice became lower, more urgent. "...not through the usual channels. Too much heat at customs..."
Magi strained to listen, her heart pounding hard against her ribs. Shipment. Customs. Heat. Keywords that made the training and the mission briefly emerge from the nauseating pit of her shame.
"—yes, the same method as with the antiques..." Adrian paused, then let out a short, **** laugh. "...yeah, paintings on canvas, always works... special packaging... the Zurich gallery handles it..."
Antiques. Paintings. Zurich. Gallery. Magi mentally repeated the words, trying to burn them into her memory. It was vague, but it was something. A method, a destination, an intermediary.
"—no, he's not involved in this one. He prefers to keep... distance..." Adrian turned his head slightly, as if checking she was still there. Magi closed her eyes, pretending to be engrossed in the water, but feeling his gaze like a prick. "...yes, yes, I'll handle it. We'll talk later."
He hung up with a dry click. The silence that followed was as dense as the water around Magi. He stood still for a moment, looking at the phone, before slowly turning back toward the pool.
His expression had changed. The relaxed lust had been replaced by an alert tension, a slight suspicion. His smile as he approached again was more ****.
"Where were we," he said, his eyes scrutinizing her face, as if looking for any sign that she had heard something.
Magi **** a trembling smile, hoping her panic over her nudity could be misinterpreted as excitement or nervousness.
"It sounded... important."
"Nothing that can't wait," he replied, sliding back into the water in front of her. But the magic was broken. His touch, when he placed a hand on her naked hip, was more possessive than seductive, more of an assertion than a caress. "Where we were..." he repeated, but his gaze was distant, calculating.
Magi felt like a cornered animal. She had obtained information, crumbs that Costa would devour, but in return she had drawn the beast's attention. Adrian no longer saw her just as amusement; now she was a variable, a possible threat or an asset that needed to be reaffirmed.
"You know," he murmured, leaning so close that his breath hit her face. "You have a quality... an intensity. It's intriguing. But intrigue can be dangerous."
His hand, underwater, was no longer just seeking to touch; it was seeking to control, holding her in place against the mosaic edge. Magi felt completely unprotected, without fabric, without barrier, under his domination.
"I don't know what you mean," Magi lied, looking away toward the city lights, wishing she were anyone else anywhere else.
"Of course you don't," he said, with a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "That's why this is going to be even more fun."
And in that moment, Magi knew the night was far from over. The brief respite had passed. The dark waters of the pool were no longer just water; they were the element where the next act of her submission would unfold, and Adrian, now alert and even more dangerous, was ready to direct it.

Under the Surface
Chronicle of a Humiliation
Magi is a solitary and reserved young woman who prefers the company of books to people's company. With her untamable black hair, faint freckles, and loose-fitting clothes, she projects an image of practicality and comfort. Her large green eyes, though curious, avoid eye contact, revealing her introverted nature. Despite her serene appearance, a deep disquiet haunts her, anticipating an imminent and inevitable change that threatens to shatter the fragile balance of her quiet life.
