Chapter 59

Will Linda escape Jaquon's clutches?
Linda tries to contact the others.
"HELP!" I yelled out, banging on the door. If I could hear the others working, they surely could hear me!
"You don't have to be awake for any of this. I was just trying to be... civilized about it," Jaquon threatened mildly as he casually lifted a hand held pistol into view. Satisfied that I would behave, he smiled and said, "Now if you will excuse me, I am going to see how the repairs are doing." Jaquon left.
I looked around the room, it was large but with no real furnishing save for the bed. In fact it more closely resembled a cell than a room. I was so tired that I must not have paid enough attention. I began to suspect that Jaquon had something to do with that as well... If I didn't do anything, I worried he would try the same thing with the others. I had to warn them somehow. There were panels along the wall, but no way to pry them off. There was no way I could figure my way out of this one, but the others were nearby; I could hear them working.
I searched around for anything I could use as a tool. The floor was metallic while the walls looked to be some sort of plastic. The light source was too high up for me to reach. I returned to the bed. It was a simple mattress with fur upholstery. I didn't have much to go with there. I stamped my foot in frustration and felt a reverb from the metal floor. There material felt like it could take my weight and then some, but it did make an odd noise when I jumped on it. Jaquon would have surely shut me up if I made too much noise, but I thought maybe this way I could send some sort of message to the others. A warning maybe?
There was only one thing I could think of to communicate to my crew mates. Three stamps followed by three taps followed by three stamps; and s.o.s. signal. I stamped out the code until my foot was sore and then I stamped it out with my other foot. I didn't know how much longer they would need to finish the repairs. They wouldn't leave without me, of course, but there was no telling what story Jaquon gave to them about my disappearance. Both feet were sore now, so I sat down and tapped and knocked on the ground. I would pause intermittently to listen for any reply.
Listening intently, I heard something from the next room. It was a response! My hopes rose as I listened to the tapping, then soon fell again as I realized I didn't really know Morse code. I didn't even know if they knew it was me. The tapping ended and I tapped back, not knowing what I was sending back to them. It didn't matter though, there was muffled talking, then louder talking, then phaser fire!
I poked my head over to the door and peered through the window to see what was going on, but there was nothing but hallway. I caught the flicker of a shadow moving nearby and quickly banged on the door to get their attention. From around the corridor I saw someone approach.
Who was it?
