Chapter 27
by

How does Ash take to the changes?
Like a fish to water
Ashlyn takes a sudden, deep breath. "Did you do it yet?" she asks.
She doesn't sound sad, or worried. Just curious. A good sign.
"I did," you say. And you take the helmet off her head.
Ashlyn looks around the room. She notices how dark it is outside the window, with surprise. "What time is it?" But then she looks at you, and her jaw drops.
Ashlyn's eyes go big, like she's seeing you for the first time. "Oh my god."
"How are you feeling?" you ask, nervous, but excited.
Ash gets to her knees, grabs your head, and kisses you full-on, with passion. She works her mouth against yours for a solid three minutes.
"God I love you, Carrie," she gasps, unable to look away from you. Her eyes brim with tears. "I've never been so happy. I love you so much, babe. Oh my god I love you so much. What did you do to me?"
You hug her waist, tearing up yourself. "I fixed everything," you say. "You're okay now."
Ashlyn kisses your head, and jumps to her feet, looking around the room with new eyes. "I feel - I feel happy," she says, her mood brightening more and more by the second. "Is this how people usually feel?"
She spies your painting and goes to it, awestruck by its beauty.
"You're an artist! I knew that before but - wow - I've never felt anything looking at a fish before!"
You go to join her, Ash's happiness seeping into you. You bask in her joy. Things are looking up. Cassidy was right - you needed to use the helmet.
Ashlyn faces you again, and is unable to quit smiling. "You're beautiful. You really are an angel. My angel. You're really mine?" Optimistic disbelief plays in her eyes. She takes your hands and leans in, forcing you to look up to her. "Is this a dream?"
"You're not dreaming," you say, having to wipe your eye from how hard you're smiling. "This is all real."
"You're so, so attractive right now," says Ashlyn, leaning in and pressing a sudden kiss to your lips. "God you're beautiful. Only you. Geeze, I feel so much less... confused about everything. Everything makes sense!"
You nod along. "You had so many questions. I answered some of them," you say. "I hope you don't mind. I edited your file a bit..."
Ashlyn pauses in her celebration. "Edited my file? Me?" she shakes her head, astounded. "How? That is, I know how, the helmet, I mean, what did you change?"
You think. "Maybe it'll be easier if I show you," you say, leading Ashlyn into the bathroom, and standing her in front of the mirror. "Check yourself out. What do you see?"
Ashlyn observes herself, and her eyes go straight to her chest. "Do I look different too?" she asks.
"No," you say. "But... how do you feel about your uh... your chest?" You pantomime over your own boobs.
Ash stares at her chest. "I'm flat as a board."
"And?" you prompt.
She swallows, amazed even further. "I love it."
"You love what?" you ask.
"Not having boobs," Ashlyn realizes, running her hands along her chest. "I love not having anything here. I'm so smooth - like a boy, practically! I love me. God, Carrie, I love this!"
"Do you want to go out? It's late, but you don't have to be afraid anymore..."
Ash is too astounded to think. "I don't know what to say. Should we go out? I'm not used to this yet! To feeling so much! Should I be? Do I need more time? I don't know -" she stops herself right when she says the words, a lightbulb going off in her head. Ashlyn suddenly turns to you. "Carrie, what do I do?"
Whenever I don't know what to do, Carrie can tell me and I can trust her.
The fixes are all working perfectly! Which means... if you wanted to, you could give Ashlyn a test drive to make sure she's really internalized all the changes...
How do you answer Ashley's question?
