Chapter 16
What's next?
Lie
“Hello Mrs Cox I have… being… discussing a tutoring schedule with your daughter, Sydney.” You quickly blurted out. She raised an eyebrow helping show how unconvinced she was. “Sorry I am Mr Townes, I was worried at the end of last eye at because Sydney’s marks were dropping and she appeared distracted throughout my classes. Worried that she would lose the grip in her HSC I was discussing a plan to catch her up.” You has now stood up and we’re pacing around your room while looking into the phone, wondering if you should just hang up, resign and move.
“Really, I didn’t think it would affect her that bad, really thank you Mr Townes.” She softened her glare and now had relaxed expression. “Yeah she was a wreck for a bit when Gary left, I’ve been trying to keep her light but I was worried it would affect her at school.” Suddenly her eyes widened and she clenched her forehead and groaned. “I know what your thinking, those things I said were totally inappropriate don’t in anyway let that harm your opinion of my daughter.” She apologised.
You stood there dumbfounded suddenly blushing at the things she said. “No it’s alright, never can hate a compliment.” You reassured not ignoring the fact that she didn’t try to reword or make excuse for the things she said.
Sydney walked back into the room and freaked out seeing her mum with phone. “It’s okay honey, Mr Townes just explained about the tutoring.” Sydney looked confused but quickly realised, she smiled and took the phone from her. “Thank you sir sorry about the wait, let’s discuss this more tomorrow.”
