Chapter 11

Who does she talk to?

Liara

Shepard walked to the medbay area as Liara had been feeling weak after sharing her thoughts about the Prothean Beacon. Shepard entered Liara’s quarters and said. “How are you feeling?”

“A lot better now that I’m clothed,” Liara said.

“I’m sorry about Ashley’s outbursts,” Shepard said. “I’ll make sure they don’t happen again.”

Liara nodded. “I understand where she gets it though,” she said. “I’m sure Ashley’s lost a lot. My species hasn’t been the kindest to humans. But then again we see humanity as the bullies of the galaxy. Your species has been quick to insert yourselves into everything.”

“That doesn’t excuse the xenophobic remarks,” Shepard said as she sat down next to Liara.

Liara couldn’t help but rest her head on Shepard’s shoulder. “I don’t know why my mother chose to side with Saren. Maybe in her messed up mind she’s somehow justified his actions. Don’t get me wrong, I still like my mother very much. I hope she sees that she’s wrong about her allies.”

Shepard sighed. “What’s your mother like?”

Liara smiled. “The best… stubborn. Head strong. Intelligent. That’s why I don’t know why she’s on Saren’s side.”

Shepard nodded. “I hope that we can still save your mother. And I promise that we’ll try.”

“Thank you, Commander,” Liara said as she noticed how close they were.

Liara scrambled to her feet embarrassed. “S-sorry, Shepard-I mean Commander…”

Shepard stood to her feet as well, blushing. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll just… give you some space.”

“It’s not that I’m not interested,” Liara said, talking faster more anxiously. “I-it’s just I thought you’d be more interested in someone like Kaiden or even Garrus.”

“Actually,” Shepard said. “I’m only interested in women. I just don’t advertise it publicly because… well… there are still some people who judge and it may effect my professional reputation.”

Liara nodded. “Technically speaking, asari are not women. We’re actually unisex. The concept of male and female doesn’t exist within our species,” Liara said.

“I know,” Shepard said. “But to us human lesbians… you’re very much… female… that is to say… I’m very much interested in you.”

Liara blushed. “O-oh… I’ll uh… have to give it some thought. ”

Shepard nodded as she turned to leave. “I’d be happy if you stopped by again… sometime,” Liara said.

Shepard paused and turned to give Liara a smiled. “Of course…”
