Letter for Athena

Nope not at the baths, not in the library or the town so sighing I looked around the temples and other places of learning, maybe she was away on business but eventually I found her laying in the meadows hard to see if she wasn’t in the smaller wheat patch and walking up she nodded acknowledging my presence I looked down and spoke, “Hey Athena!”

“James, it’s good to see you depending on why you are here!” “A letter from Hermes, well he gave it to me I don’t know if it is from him or someone else!” she nodded taking it before hearing, “What are you doing in the meadows?” “Thinking about things!” “Like...” “Oh nothing you need to concern yourself with!” “Athena I may be stupid but sometimes stupidity provides the best answers!” She laughed before saying, “You aren’t stupid James, wise for your age it just happens next to me you seem to be wise in your stupidity!” I laughed before sitting next to her spoke, “So what is the problem?” “It’s just that time of the year again, the family celebration and you are meant to bring a quest every year I take Adonis because he wants Aphrodite so I am left alone, I am just fed up of being a springboard or alone!” I took her hand before saying, “Go with me! I don’t love others and I have no one to go with! Hermes is taking mother!” “Is he!? I thought he would ask Persephone...” “Nope as soon as it was announced he asked her straight away!” she looked down before saying, “So many gods have gotten together, had a family and broken up and I left with my knowledge!” “At least you stay out of mischief like me earlier...I think I impregnated my grandmother...” “See, you will have a child and break up or do you expect more with her?” “She is married you know the rules, nothing permanent with a married woman!” “Aphrodite was looking for you...” “No thanks she can have the other men she has courted! So how about it?” “Well its better than nothing...it’s just” “Yes we will just skip the last part” she nodded before looking down lifted a rose as she spoke, “Our relationship... it is sort of like a delicate rose, it starts growing nicely and healthily and then because of your naivety and youth you crush it or damage it; but then you see what you have done and nurse it back to its once greatness... with more thought to your actions that flower could have blossomed a lot fuller!” I studied her then the flower before saying, “But I dare not to go any nearer to it just in case it decays!” and seeing it go black and petals start to fall she spoke, “You just need some confidence in the fact it won’t happen! It may depend on you to stay pure!” I looked at the flower before saying, “What if the two things match? the flowers beauty and wisdom to keep on surviving and **** who seeks to stop others from taking it?” “Then they can work together to help others!” “And what if **** touches and infects the flower not because it wants to but because it wants to kiss upon its petals?” she looked at me and cupping her cheek I spoke, “And maybe I touch your cheek to protect you and to kiss upon the fruit that no other man should or will have!” I kissed her lips and crying in her annoyance pulled away, “We can’t, you know my purpose!” I pulled her hand before saying, “Screw it...you have done it long enough someone else can, “Like who?” “A future child? Another god! A wise human!” “I just can’t James, I will see you at the party or something!?!” “Come to me later, there is a nice spot overlooking the realm, I maybe able to get some sort of food organised!” “James...!” “Please?” and nodding she spoke, “I will think about it or at least send someone else!” and looking down I spoke, “I better finish my tasks!”
