Let the hologram do the work

"Alright. You stay. I'll go." I said.

"Wait... what?"

"They've already seen you here," she explained, "... and since this is a battle drill, they must think you're part of the programming. So, I just let you all play this out and then have Jenny shut you off with the rest of the program. Problem solved!"

I left the holo-deck with a sigh of relief. This would all play out perfectly; My hologram wouldn't be conspicuous because she'll be seen as a hologram and I won't have to do battle drills. What a fortunate break in this whole ordeal!

I stepped into the hallway and Jenny and Kari were still there.

"Problem solved!" I said proudly.

They looked at me curiously and I explained to them what was going on.

"That's great, but wouldn't you like to know what she's been doing through the whole time you left here in there?" Kari asked. Jenny nodded in agreement.

"You did seem to get some looks from some of the other girls, Linda..." Jenny chimed in.

Flashbacks of the cafeteria came to me. It was curious what my hologram did to get such reactions from people. She did make mention of them too, but I was in so much of a rush I didn't bother to ask for details. I sighed.

"I can't go back in there..."

"Relax, I can keep her running long enough to fill in a log. You know, like you do," Jenny said.

"You watch my logs?"

"Uh... anyways, I'll send in another subroutine to kick in after the commander and lieutenant leave. I'll send it to you after."

"Send one to me too," Kari said with a smile. The girls giggled at the prospect of salacious stories. I wasn't so enthusiastic. The hologram was representing me to all those people, now I'll have to deal with the repercussions. Hopefully I didn't do anything too unforgivable... for the most part everyone seemed please to see me, so maybe holo-me did good. She was programmed to do what I would do, right?
