Let her in

You step aside, gesturing with a nod of your chin for her to get inside. She shuffles in, and you close the door behind her.

"What's this about... milady."

Evellyn paces anxiously. You can tell she's not sure if this was a good idea. "You know of the Duchess who lives near here? The county we're currently in are part of her holdings."

You do. "Duchess Selia? I hear she's a beauty - I'd love to meet her some day."

Evellyn flinches, but she lets the implication of mischief pass.

"I'm attached to her court. In her inner circle in fact."

"Are you saying I undressed the guard of a Duchess? I'm moving up in the world."

"shut up." She snaps.

"Stripped. Stark. Naked. Tits out."

"Yes! Yes! Shut up." Her cheeks flush red. She crosses her arms and holds them tightly. She might be dressed but your taunts are making her feel exposed.

"I don't see what this has to do with me though."

"Something has been stolen from the duchess. Something important. A valuable amulet."

"And you think I did it."

"No. ... Because everyone still had their clothes on.."

You lean back. Seems she's got your modus operandi figured. "... A solid point. Good detective work."

"But you're a thief -"

"Guilty as charged"

"- so I figured you might be of use to catch another thief."

You take a second to think. It's an intruiging offer, a good chance to put your knowledge of the art of thieving to the test, maybe get a fat reward, and the everpresent opportunity to continue tormenting Evellyn. You wonder what's so important about the amulet though.

"This amulet. Why is it so valuable. Big diamonds on it?"

"I can't tell you. It's magical, and it's important to the duchess, that's all you need to know."
