Chapter 37 by TheSpectator TheSpectator

What do you do now?

Let her go!

You realize that it isn’t too late to stop this. You take your hand out of her pants and just hold her down. You quickly conjure up a story and sigh. “Alright, you’re not bugged.”

“Wh-what??” She says as your hand is pulled from her mouth. “Who are you?”

“Shut up!” your mind was racing and your thoughts were running into each other. You couldn’t believe you were considering **** her for a second. You bury the shame, pressing forward with dealing with the thief. “Just get out of here and don’t ever return. You got that?!”

“Yes! Please Christ!” She shrieks as you cover her eyes and guide her towards the door. You push her out and shout at her to leave again. She scrambles for a few seconds before finally bolting out towards the field.

Your heart is racing and you feel like you’re burning up. You step back inside and close the door. I can’t believe that entered my mind. What the fuck is with me?!

Once you are sure she’s gone, you return to the Sage Lodge to find Sullivan to tell him what happened. Since you had nothing to show him, you explained to him what she was wearing, expecting him to recognize the "uniform", but he has no reaction other than slight gasp. "So, you dealt with the intrude then?”

"Yeah, she picked your lock and started to go through your workbench. I thought about doing something more physical to make sure she didn’t get away, but...”

"Yes, yes." He cuts you off. "Some of these, ah, creatures can be cunning. I understand your take on the situation. Better safe than sorry really."

You nod, though you are pretty sure he doesn’t know what you thought about actually doing. “I don’t think she’ll be coming back though.”

His eyes go outside. "Ahem, I'll provide you breakfast in the morning and complimentary stays at the lodge, for as long as I am the owner of this establishment. As well as a 300$ fee for your work."

"That won’t be necessary, Sullivan. I’ll take the breakfast, but I didn’t do a whole lot here... I'm just glad it wasn't anything too serious. She was alone it seems, but keep in mind they tend to work in packs sometimes, I’m sure you know that though.”

"I've heard of stories, but I can assure you that if they come back for trouble, they’re sure to find it." He joins your stare. "I know people use these poor creatures for their own purposes too, so I don’t hold anything against the thief, or any of the others that may come.”

You think for a moment. For some reason. "Well...I'm just going to turn in for the night then. I’ll be indoors for the reminder of my stay, come find me if you need something done.12 hours from now I'll be going back to Tiny's Tavern."

The night is silent and there are no more crazy events. It's restless, and your mind is swimming in a thousand different thoughts. You're glad you didn’t do anything you weren’t supposed to, but the fact it went through your mind makes your cringe.

You fight with your thoughts all the way until you are back at Tiny's Tavern. You see Delilah bartending, but you just return to your sleep to unload your equipment. You shower, rinsing off the sweat you gathered while hiking back.

What's next?
