What does Traci suggest?
Let Kelly decide
Traci could sense her roommate’s growing impatience. She really didn’t want to go back to that bar from last night, but she didn’t really much feel like wandering around campus on her own either. And somehow, she had a feeling simply staying in was not going to be an option if Kelly had a say in things.
Kelly picked at something on the tip of her finger, clearly bored and distracted. “Well?”
“Um. I don’t know, why don’t you just decide?” As soon as the words left her mouth, Traci instinctively knew she had made a mistake.
A mischievous grin spread over Kelly’s face. “Dealer’s choice huh? You know, I did get a call from Brad earlier.”
“Brad?”
“Mhmmm.”
“As in, Brad from the bar last night?”
Kelly plopped herself back down on the bed next to Traci. “Look, he really does feel bad that he made the wrong impression on you last night. He’s offered to take us out to a proper dinner to make up for it.”
“I don’t know, Kelly…” To say that Traci was dubious about the prospect of dinner with Brad would have been the very definition of extreme understatement. Future generations would look up ‘understatement’ in the thesaurus, and this moment of doubt that Traci was feeling would be laid out as an example.
“Come on.” Kelly nudged her with an elbow. “It’ll be fun. And Brad says it’s a really nice restaurant. What do you say?”
Traci let out a resigned sigh. “Fine.”
“Yes!” Kelly got up and began rummaging through her suitcase, since she still hadn’t gotten around to hanging any clothes in the closet. She haphazardly tossed clothes onto her own bed, eventually settling on an outfit for the evening—a short black mini slit along the side and held together with laces and a shiny red top with long sleeves and a plunging neck line. Traci couldn’t even imagine going out in anything like that.
When Kelly was done, she turned her attention to Traci.
