Chapter 9 by TheBlinded TheBlinded

Who does She swap with?

Let Blake Answer

Ruby sighed.

It wasn’t so much in annoyance, though Weiss’s life would have dictated it so. No, this was a normal appearance to the others around her that gave Ruby time to think. She really didn’t want to mess with Weiss’s life. At most, she had just been planning to see what it was like and learn a few things about her best friend and partner. Now, she was getting involved in something that should have been private. Stealthily reaching her hand into her hidden pocket for the remote, Ruby aimed the remote at the one other person in the room she could see without turning around.

There was a flash of green light and Ruby found herself laying on a bed, a book in her hand. Her eyes flickered upwards to where she had been to see Blake standing in front of Jaune. Her hand was on her hip, expression one of annoyance, and was dressed in Weiss’s white dress along with her signature white hair tied into a ponytail. Ruby’s heart then stopped for a moment as she saw Blake’s black cat ears on full display.

Oh no! Ruby thought, raising her hand up to feel the black bow on her head. She didn’t get a chance to react as Blake started speaking to Jaune.

“And what makes you think I will change my mind after all your other pitiful attempts?” Blake demanded at Jaune.

“Well… I thought you might finally give me a chance if I planned everything out?” Jaune admitted hopefully.

“You thought wrong.” Blake slammed the door in his face.

Right, she’s living as Weiss so everyone doesn’t notice her ears, Ruby sighed in relief. That means I need to remember to keep the bow on since I’m Blake now.

“You could have been nicer,” Weiss said, noticeably upset. Her arms were crossed and she was looking direct at Blake.

“I tired being nice and just saying no,” Blake huffed. “He didn’t get the message. Maybe now he will stop badgering me for a date.”

“You could at least give him a chance,” Weiss huffed and Ruby had to try very hard to hold back her laughter while staring straight ahead at the book. This was hilarious watching Weiss, who was in Ruby’s life, try to get Blake, who was in Weiss’s life, to give Jaune a shot. “Or at least explain to him nicely why you won’t go out with him. There’s no reason to insult my friend.”

“Fine,” Blake relented. “If he doesn’t get the message and tries again, I’ll sit him down and lay out in detail why we will never happen. Happy?”

“I… guess?” Weiss answered. “Just… don’t be mean.”

“I’m never mean,” Blake scoffed and Ruby couldn’t hold back her own laughter completely. “Is something amusing you, Blake?”

“Nothing,” Ruby replied, focusing all her attention on her book. Blake usually tried to ignore the rest of the team’s shenanigans and usually just commented once in a while. This lifestyle was perfect for Ruby right now, who just wanted to stay out of the way and watch the swaps in action.

“I should go see if Jaune’s okay,” Weiss stated and started for the door, only to have Blake grab her by her cloak.

“Oh, no you don’t,” Blake said quickly. “You have to finish your work first.”

“I’ve been studying forever,” Weiss whined.

“Not even an hour,” Blake corrected her. “We are going to meet with Yang soon, right? Study until then.”

“Fine, **** driver.” Weiss muttered, under her breath.

“I am not,” Blake huffed indignantly. “You need to pass your classes. How would you like it if you get held back? Yang’s even doing better than you.”

Ruby’s stomach sunk at that. This was technically true. Besides classes relating to weapons or engineering, she was slowly falling behind the others. It would take some dedication to raise her grades. Even though she always complained, she really did appreciate Weiss taking time out to help her. Anytime she had a problem, Weiss would coach her through it.

Things were settling down as Weiss started studying in Ruby’s place while Blake was writing something down at Weiss’s desk. Ruby didn’t move from Blake’s bed and began to examine herself. Blake was in her school uniform, not having changed out of it yet. It was exactly the same as Ruby’s except Ruby wore black stockings and her red cape. Blake only wore a bow to cover her ears. As the silence lengthened Ruby’s thoughts turned back to the remote.

She could stay in Blake’s life and see how things differed from her perspective. Blake was relatively secretive and Ruby could use this time to learn more about her teammate. Of course, since three-fourths of her team had been swapped, it would be rude to not include Yang. Having Yang, one of the more outgoing members of their team acting like Blake would be fun to watch. Of course, there were other swaps available to her and she didn’t have to limit herself.
